aCalendar only asks for mandatory permissions for its functionality: Read and write contact data for birthdays as well as read and write calendar data for events. ‘Send Email to guests’ is bound to ‘write calendar data’ by Google. NFC is for sharing events by touching another NFC-enabled phone, and requires manual confirmation.
Unfortunately app2SD cannot be supported, because homescreen widgets do not work from SD. This is an Android limitation. But aCalendar is optimized not only for speed but also for size.
If you like aCalendar, please rate or comment and recommend it to your friends. Also now available is aCalendar+ for some extra features
aCalendar is still beta software. If you find a bug please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll try to fix it. If you just write a comment I cannot get back to you.
There are many more features planned, most notably
more calendar widgets
Color-coded categories (requires Android 4.0.3+)
there are some more features in aCalendar+
aCalendar is free and will stay free and ad-free. No features will be taken away, but some advanced calendar features might only come to aCalendar+.
I love all that it does, but it doesn’t offer biweekly repeating or sharing via text or email. I really need those both, I will probably have to find an app that offers that.
First I must commend Matthias at the support e-mail address for aCalendar. He responded in short order to three of my e-mails inquiring on why aCalendar wasn’t syncing with my Google account. To make a long story short he advised me that it was the standard android calendar that actually syncs (not google) with aCalendar. As all must appreciate aCalendar is a much better looking and functioning calendar than the standard android one and much more desirable to use. To fix my problem I activated the standard calendar (which was sitting with the standard apps that comes with android but unused) then made two updates to Outlook on my computer which synced with my google account which in turn updated aCalendar via the standard android calendar. That simple. Hope this helps and kudos again to aCalendar support.
Easy to use and a clean easy to read interface. Does exactly what I want.
I have tried a few and find this to me the best android calendar so far. It is also light weight which is important on most phones where memory is always short. It displays all of my google calendars in a very easy to see format even in month view.
Very handy operation concept. What I miss is 24 hour day grid (currently it starts at 3am) for graveyard shift planning. Would also love to see the duration of an event automatically calculated based on start and end time.
I use this every day for work and it never lets me down. it looks good and works well. my only niggle is it sometimes changes orientation without being asked to, but it’s easily sorted.
This is a great calendar, small in size and fast, however i find the swipe function frustrating as i am used to moving dates forward and backward by swiping horizontally and this app requires a vertical swipe. if the developer could allow this an as an option in the settings then this would be a 5 star app and i would purchase it.
