Acorns costs $1 per month for accounts investing less than $5,000. After your account grows past $5,000, the fee switches to 0.25% per year (@$5,000 that’s about $1 a month). That’s like 3 semi-fancy cups of coffee (you know you do it) a year, just to invest in your future.
In order for Acorns to invest your spare change from purchases, which is part of why we charge $1 per month, you will need to connect a bank account. Worry not – we’ve got 256-bit encryption. I really do like this app. Very nice user interface and it takes a lot of the pressure out of being an expert at investing. You get to decide how much risk you want and it adjusts your investments accordingly. Great for people like me who want to invest but don’t have a lot of spare time to learn the intricacies of the stock market. Investing spare change is a great idea too. Makes me want to invest and save more money.
I love the app when it works! However, when I changed my bank password and attempted to re-link my card to Acorns, I get stuck at the 2nd verification step. All it does is ask me the security question over and over again! It is also frustrating that I can’t get the investing benefits in Found Money from most retailers unless I make my purchases online.
