Amazon Alexa user reviews :

Alexa is good for some things. other things like randomly saying ONE at various times, or making unasked for responses are very annoying. The software to change settings is not too good either. The negatives seem to have started increasing in frequency. not sure if it is due to updates, and can’t seem to find what version or if/when/how to check for updates. My much older Alexa dot still works flawlessly. only the Exho Dot 2s are having issues.

Generally very good but spoiled by Alexa taking over with things I don’t want but can’t turn off. The highly annoying “by the way” interruptions drive us all mad. Also, on the photo carousel the time is usually big in the bottom left hand corner, though sometimes Alexa decides to show it small in the top left corner (how I would like it) and then will show a reminder screen that I don’t want to see. Please give users the option to toggle these features off.

I rated 4 stars because as a whole, Alexa is just awesome and deserves 5 or better if more stars were available. I would actually rate it 3 stars because the app can get tricky: it doesn’t always correspond to all Smart Plugs once you’ve changed the name of one for instance. It can get aggravating when something goes wrong and Alexa instructs you to check the Help section of the app. Problem is with that is when ur offline u can’t access the app. It’ll get better: its in its infancy still

I don’t use Alexa to it’s fullest, but the little I do use it, it works good. The exception and reason for a four star review is it doesn’t play some songs that I ask. A popular song, for example, would be “Easy on me”, by Adele. It’ll just choose one of her songs at random but never ever that one.

Pretty good app Love my Amazon Echo! The app integration is very beneficial in some aspects like installing new skills, but in other ways it falls short. I find the app takes a very long time to open (if it opens at all) while I’m in the grocery store… just when I really need it the most. I am surprised there isn’t a shopping/to-do list widget to go along with the app. This app would justify a 5-star rating if the shopping list functionality were usable, and/or if there was a widget that could be a workaround.

Keep going! Thank you for finally adding scene support for Insteon! Please add a shopping list widget! Settings I would offer would be: 1) Sort by category (produce, ethnic, dairy, etc.) and be able to 2) choose what order those categories are listed. This way you can sort them the way your store is set up to make shopping easier. 3) Set up a way to assign categories to items the app is unsure about. 4) Add a way to remove items from the shopping list at home by speaking to Alexa. 5) create custom categories.

Worked for me Got my UK Echo today, had it set up in no time at all with the app (location, music and account preferences all fine). My biggest beef at the moment is the fact I cannot link my wemo devices to it. Belkins guide on how to do this (presumably using the US version of the app) shows different options. At the moment, Echo won’t discover any wemo devices, switch or bulbs. In fairness, I’ve not had any issues with the Android app as yet, using Galaxy S6.
