It’s a weird love child of traditional shmups and IAP driven mobile games, and I can’t decide if it totally works or not. The controls are great, it runs smoothly, and it has quite a bit of content for a free game. And the IAPs are implemented well and totally optional as long as you’re ok with not having all the different ships. But where an awesome shmup would drive you to replay to build skill, this one wants you to grind credits for upgrades. Still, if you’re into the free to play model, this is probably the best shmup for you. But if you’re willing to pay for a game, check out something like Aka to Blue.

Perhaps the best shooter on Android. The progression system is generous enough that you won’t need to grind so much. The levels are challenging but not unfair. There is IAP but the available ships with free to play are more than enough to get through the the game. The ads are in no way annoying and are usually used as an incentive to get more points to level up with. If you enjoy bullet hell games, you need to try this.
