Field Tripuser reviews:

The application works and looks great, can’t wait to go on vacation and see all the things near me. :]

The UI and design are 4 star right off the bat. I haven’t had much chance to use it yet. So far so good in limited situations. The test is long term in multiple settings and locations. Places where Goggles and Layer and Junaio have failed for me. If it works the way it should, this is going to be a 5 star rating from me.
At first glance, it didn’t seem this “Google” app followed the recommended design guidelines, but after installing, it does – and in an amazing way. The app is quick and smooth, and if I lived in a more interesting place, I’m sure it would notify me of things.
As soon as I saw this app’s description pop-up on r/Android, I knew this is exactly the kind of app I’ve been looking for but didn’t know yet. This app is going to be great if they can unleash its true potential, especially when connected to a car’s bluetooth speakers and in the explorer mode. One significant improvement I could suggest is to be able to specify the range of distance for which landmarks are shown. At the moment it is only showing me landmarks within 1 mile radius, but what if I am in a new areacand want to know the best places within a 10 mile radius – isn’t that the entire point of this app? I hope Google keeps improving this app and doesn’t dump it after a few months of flirtation. The overwhelming amount of skeuomorphism in the app doesn’t bode well for the future, and I am hoping this doesn’t go the way of other frivolous apps like Schemer.
