inSSIDer: MetaGeek has re-imagined inSSIDer to help you choose the best channel for your wireless network, giving every user on the wireless network better performance.
inSSIDer for Android logs channel data for every room in a building in order to statistically determine the best channel for wireless network performance.
3 Easy Steps to a better WLAN with inSSIDer:
1. Select your network
2. Walk the area needing wireless coverage.
3. Press “stop” to see the best performing channel.
inSSIDer user reviews:
I’ve used a number of wireless signal strength utilities over the past 6 months and I’m really pleased with InSSIDer. I use most of MetaGeek’s commercial products and frequently use InSSIDer on my laptops, so I was rather impressed to see that the UI is almost identical to the original product. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because of the lack of GPS integration. Note to any droid wall users: the wifi data collection still works with the firewall blocking access to wifi interface (and cellular intfc), the only functionality you appear to lose is the annoying self promotion that MG is famous for, in ALL their products (even the paid products).
I’m using this software at my pc. best site survey app. and I love the android version too. thumbs up
I’m definitely not a wireless expert, but I was pretty sure I wasn’t getting my bang my buck, given the 10+ wireless near me in my apartment complex. This app helped me figure out what the traffic looked like and what channels were best for me in about 90seconds time. When I left the app running, then went back to homescreen to do something else, then tried to open it again it would force close on me – however I run custom everything (rom, kernel, etc) so really that could be something just not playing nice with my setup. All in all a great app!
The Channels screen is flawed as it only shows the 11 channels available in the USA, instead of all 14 available everywhere else in the world. The 14 channels are shown in the other screens, but not in that one. It also didn’t pick up when I changed channels on my AP until I stopped scanning and then restarted scanning, which suggests that it’s not really actively scanning. Other apps don’t have these flaws, like WiFi Analyzer. Hopefully these flaws will be fixed like they are in the excellent PC version.
