Pixel Pulse – Can give you a pulsing Ambient Display

[App] Pixel Pulse

Pixel PulsePixel Pulse can give you a pulsing Ambient Display that activates when you have notifications available.

The free option uses a branded icon and repeats the title and content of your actual notifications. The paid version adds the ability to use the default apps icon and colors, override colors, and have swipe and tap actions.

You can also replace the double tap to wake with the scrolling pulse, which is my favorite feature. Just be sure to turn off Google’s double tap to wake.

For it to work you need the following settings:
Notification content shown on the lock screen
Always on display off
Wake on new notifications on

If you previously purchased Ambi-Turner – there is a mechanism to convert your purchase to this app.

Pixel Pulse user reviews :

Does what it says – I’m using this to replace Light Flow, even though this is far less detailed. I would like to see further customization, for instance, allow for settings that can be applied to not just the messages app, but also to contacts associated with the notification. If there was a feature to add a notification sound and vibration that would be fantastic. Last on my wish list would be more options for wearables. All that said, I really enjoy what’s been done so far.

Great idea, looking forward to see where it goes. Updated app means updated review. Great work Devs, this app is becoming amazing!

It’s not working consistently. it doesn’t pulse for new notifications. I’ve selected pulse for all and always pulse, still it just works once then I’ve to clear the app storage and reset the settings, then again it works only once. device : OnePlus 6t. Oxygen os : 9.0.6(Android 9)

The app is super useful for me since I don’t have a notification LED on my OnePlus 6T. And the developer has been making constant updates that are making this app better each time.

Purchased. Like where you’re going with this. Using it on OnePlus 6t. Was beginning to think decent notifications app did not exist till I tried this app. Thanks. Keep on improving it… You’re doing great.

Nice app.. but new update removes the app name name even when it’s turned on.. pls take a look at it

Update: turn off notification of pixel pulse in settings and you are golden. Thanks for the tip!

  • If you go into android setting for Pixel Pulse and select notifications you can turn off the Pixel Pulse running notification. It’s used to keep the service alive when the screen is off.

Amazing app, finally an app able to emulate the Moto x active display!! A must have

Edit: the notifications stopped continuously popping up as of yesterday’s update, which does mention a fix for that problem. So that’s cool. Now I just hope the OP6T is capable of sliding notifications away but idk how to see if a phone is compatible with such feature. This app is a awesome addition to the Oneplus 6T

Thanks for your continued updates. I’m a OnePlus 6T user and you know the mantra, we never settle. Last bug I had was the pixel pulse notification on the screen, as if pixel pulse was being sent a notification even though I had it turned off. Enjoy your coffee, I’ll be sending more. XDAsledgie

great app…pleaseee shorten duration of pulse as 8 secs is way too long for oneplus 6t

  • I’ll be adding that tonight. My oneplus will be here for me to test in 2 days so hopefully I can improve it for you.
it worked!! but there is a potential bug, i connected to samsung gear s3 smartwatch, everytime it pulses it wakes up sends the notification to smartwatch. this happens everytime, my smartwatch and phone pulsing at the same time

  • Does your smart watch have a way to filter notifications? Tell it you don’t want to see notifications from Pixel Pulse.
