The Living Library – Rise back to their former glory

[Game] The Living Library – Text Based Choices RPG

The Living Library  The stories published in “The Living Library” can be played for free and by anyone who owns a smartphone or tablet.

By doing this we hope to demolish any barriers to entry and give Interactive Fiction a fair chance to rise back to their former glory. A hard, but noble quest we find tons of fun in.

The Living Library user reviews :

So this is my second attempt with these particular stories. Got Game of the Gods solo story first. Really enjoyed it. So I am trying the library. The thieves story is pretty good so far. I just hope you expand the selection of stories soon. It won’t take me long to exhaust what is available.

Checked all stories and they are all great. My favourite so far is Game of the Gods, but they are all worth to check out. Definitely gonna replay every single one once I finish them all (and their writing is done, of course)

Had a question about the one of the functions of the app and reached out to the dev, which he responded too and explained. Stories are good and the app functions as it should while looking the part also, great fun for those fans of the old fantasy flight books or anyone looking for a solo RPG experience.

Thus far I’ve been every much enjoying Game of the Gods, which is only 1 out of the 4 CYOA stories currently available in this app. I really look forward to reading the rest because I love the format, writing, and artistry. I only have one minor issue: I just wish I would’ve known that I could’ve saved hard drive space on my phone by not downloading “The Sorcerer’s Tower” app or the “Game of the Gods” app since they’re both bundled within The Living Library. Nevertheless, this has been a blast.

  • Hi Eric, You can migrate your progress from the standalone apps and then safely delete them. Let me know if you need help with that by sending me a message to renato[at]humbletoymaker.com and I’ll guide you through.

Challenge enough to have caused me to restart the first book twice, Making 2 mistakes so far, before finishing it. Would be cool to finish a storie for the first time and not making a mistake. Seems the conclusion’s are orcastrated in a way so no one could ever finish a book with out making a mistake. Mistakes are forced, Which seems frustrating, but really isn’t. All in all time well spent.

I’m really getting into this. Fun stories, beautifully illustrated and lots of choices that make it replayable. And it’s free!

Love everything, I just wish there was a way to know if the stories getting updated because it has been a while since I’ve seen a new game of gods update.

Love the game laughed the first time I died cause I didn’t see it coming made me learn that I can’t always bash my way through

Fun. I loved choose your own adventure books as a kid, these are the same

The stories are good, but the app itself stops loading and just goes to a blank white screen. Edit: Problem fixed, thank you.

Fantastic. Downloaded after completing the equally enjoyable Game of the Gods. Really love your apps; would pay a reasonable price for them, in fact. Keep up the brilliant work. Crossing my fingers and hoping you’ve got more coming. Thank you!

Interactive Fiction is an endangered species. It’s nice to see a sanctuary in which it can thrive in a small part of the virtual world

I’ve only read one story so far but this is a phenomenal find. Gamebooks done properly. Can’t say enough good things!

Started reading one of the stories. Made it to the second checkpoint so far Well written if a bit predictable. The correct/best choice isn’t obvious, which is good. Interresting choices and the RPG elements are worked well into the story. Well worth a download.

Fun single player text adventure, haven’t seen any ads, there are some cheap not at all required boosts you could pay for. This app/game is actually a front end for several games/stories. I assume it may get more in the future.

Love it,I just wish it was easier to get gems

Hi there, I really love the games. Are you guys going to make any more games that are accessible for the blind?

It won’t load anything. After my first and second time on it, it won’t load anything anymore. Jus goes to a white screen, and never moves from it

Inventive and addictive. Prime example of the best of the genre.

So far a decent CYOA game. Wish it was programed to wait until end of chapter to ask for reviews though.

Fun stories, great world building, interesting options and outcomes!

The game just loads into a white screen. No longer playable The developer got back to me and it’s been fixed! Great service!

So far so good, not bothered by ads or microtransactions. Got recommended here from the Wandering Inn and I haven’t been disappointed yet.
