Word Lens Translator user reviews :

Have used on other devices in the past. Does not access my camera properly on my S9 and so is unusable on it.

Since this app joined Google it has not worked and there is absolutely no support what so ever. Google have just bought it up in order to shut it down.

Loved this app, Google bought it and out the capabilities in Google Translate!

Very practical, works well even offline

Does not do well with new android phone getting black screen no camera

This was a great app which stopped working. Sad.

Im in costa rica on vacation and I dont know much spanish. My brother however can speak it very well and it gets on my nerves when I cant communicate with people. So I dowloaded this app. It works relatively well with general spanish however in the costa rican dialect the app glitches causing words like finqueros to say boobies. I ask the developer to adjust the app to acount for dialect.

Before I switched phones, word lens worked great. I have an S7 now, and now when i try to use the camera function, the screen goes black. It doesn’t pick up or show the image of anything surrounding the words, and even the words themselves can only be perceived at differing camera angles. Please fix this so that the Camera can actually work, and it’ll get my 5 stars.

I just started using this (mostly for fun and to see if it works) and it works well and pretty quickly. The integration of the translated text is seamless as far as I can tell, which is a bit eery to see. At first I didn’t even realize it was working as the text looked the same even w/ my hand wavering a small amount.

I find the premise of this app great, but the execution could easily be tweaked to make this a much better app. Main issue: the pause button should freeze the picture, then the frozen picture is translated. Rather than the pause button freezing the translation process. This eliminates having to hold it perfectly still or at just the right angle until the translation is perfect and then somehow press pause without moving the camera. This should be a very easy change to make.

As the developers say in their blurb, the translations are not grammatically or contextually perfect. But if you need something translating really simply and quickly, there is no better app. Brazilian and Spanish friends both said the translations are rudimentary, but they absolutely understood the intended message.

I was really excited to try it and at first, some words were well translated but the majority of them are not accurate. now the thing is that it can give us an idea of what we need to be translated witch is good. it still needs a lot of improvement and I hope to see a continuous improvement. very good idea tho keep it up!

This app is just plain awesome. The developers have dinner a great job. It is always quick and responsive and does a good job with many different kinds of text samples. The translations can be a bit rough and literal, but that is to be expected. It has always given me at least enough info to understand the meaning of a given sign.

Recognition is pretty good most of the time, but it has a tendency to ‘forget’ the translation of part of a text that it translated just fine a second ago. Also has a tendency to change the translation of some words over and over every few seconds which makes it hard to read. Overall, good app for getting the general idea of a text, but don’t excpect to be able to read more than a simple resturant menu or an occasional road sign

It does what it tries to do. Translate texts in real time without the requirements of internet. Its pretty fast and does its job well. But its not perfect, then again what is,I hope the developer works on making this app even more helpful and better in the future and coming updates/versions. PS More language options would be awesome.
