Agents of Discovery is an augmented reality, geo-triggered app that gets you outside, active, and engaged in the world around you.

With Agents of Discovery, you become a top-secret Agent, dedicated to solving the greatest mysteries of science, culture, technology, and nature. Download the app and the Mission you want to play BEFORE heading out. The app does not require any data or WiFi to run, once it’s been downloaded.

There are Missions all over North America. Can’t find one near you? Fear not! More Missions are on the way. Check out our list of current sites here – agentsofdiscovery.com/play/missions/.

Why are bumblebees fuzzy? Why do beavers build dams? What’s the deal with metamorphosis? And how do you even pronounce metamorphosis? How do you change the world? We’ll help you answer these questions and more!

Here’s how it works:
1) Download the app and create an Agent profile.

2) Pick a Mission in your area. Download the Mission BEFORE heading to it, so you can play the game without WiFi or a data connection.

3) Use your secret agent tools to find and unlock Challenges.

4) Solve these Challenges to learn cool facts and collect USBees (points)!

This is a fab idea and Mr 6yo was excited,we explored the Botanic gardens in CHCH. However for this junior walking this whole area he was knackered half way through. It was so hard to see on tablet due to sunlight, so we had arguments trying to pull it off him to check direction.. the rose gardens ie take a pic of your fav rose I even did this so many times and it still wouldnt confirm the tick. One area “scavenger hunt” he thought was amazing when it popped up that too was painful… I think for the juniors a bit more interactive on site would be good so they feel they accomplished something… The walking around with tablet in such a beautiful place he normally enjoys also killed it for us..he had his head down most of the time..The idea is great but tweak maybe? he had more fun when I put tablet back in bag and we created our own adventures looking for venus flytraps in the hot house… sorry to be a downer!! but needs work / didnt work for us

I am a frustated mom, our family love this game but the kids are more motivated by getting the badges upon completion of the missions. Sadly at Hansen Dam and Echo Park, we could not find a place to collect the badges. These places are huge and we walked around so many times and made multiple phone calls and even asked employees at Discovery Cube LA, and still don’t know where to claim our badge. Can you put this information in the app so that we know where to claim the badges?

Great question, Karen! Our SoCal Explorer Campaign ended on August 10, but Hansen Dam and Echo Park’s badges can still be picked up at the Hansen Dam Ranger Station and the Echo Park Recreation Center provided they still have badges from that Explorer Campaign. Super fun and educational, my 9yo loved it! Only wish 1 there’s more missions for northern california. 2 some clue in regard to what to look for (besides a question mark on the map) as we couldn’t find the last place on the quest thus couldn’t finish the mission, bummer.
