The app on the phone works well. However, it seems to be intentionally designed to work poorly with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay in an effort to have people pay extra to subscribe each vehicle. Instead of the “previous” and “next” buttons cycling through favorite channels, it rewinds an hour or skips to live. This is a feature that is very rarely used. Meanwhile, to tune between favorite channels there is a “more” button you have to press then press back or next buttons. Very annoying.
The app has excellent features – beyond just the radio stations. Podcasts, videos, interviews plus featured stations. I also like being able to listen to shows on demand. I have been using the app for well over a year and haven’t had any of the pausing or shutdown issues mentioned. I always have all my audio apps toggled to unrestricted, play in the background, disable screen locks, etc. And my phone is set to toggle between wifi and cell data, and I never have issues.
