Book Catalogue user reviews :

I used to like this app. Now, as I tried to install it on a new phone, I see that the new version is asking me to use a third party barcode scanning app. And that app looks very suspiciou, as it requires six or seven permissions, most of which have nothing to do with scanning. I have a perfectly safe barcode app already installed and I do not plan to install another. I think Book Catalogue should incorporate its own scanner app, as the old version did. Sorr, guys, you’ve just lost a customer!

  • It always has used a third party scanner. It has never had its own scanner. We recommend Zxing. See our FAQ for scanning issues.

This has worked great for years for me. A couple months ago something changed and now when I scan a book – it will not put it in the series it belongs to. If I manually choose a series, it will either not save that information or not show that book grouped with the other books in the series. I can recommend this app, but would love help figuring out this recent glitch.

Best app to keep track of the books in my library. However with the update, I’ve found the app is no longer automatically sorting books into series and is rarely pulling page count info. Is there some setting that got toggled off? I’m more concerned about the series information not being automatically populated anymore because that was a HUGE part of why I initially fell in love with this app

I’m sorry. This used to be one of my favorite apps, but now it’s so limited. I don’t know why the description hasn’t been updated to show that this app no longer syncs with Good Reads or other sources that allow easy book entry. I doubt this is the authors fault. All Big Tech is capricious to deal with. Though you can still enter ISBNs for most printed books, audiobook lookups don’t work anymore. You have to enter them manually, a tedious process. Author, please update the description honestly.

Been using this app for years, its stopped pulling series info, and logging info manually is a pain (app does not play well with mobile pop up keyboards), but every other similar app worth using costs money (sometimes out of the gate, sometimes if you go over a certain limit which is usually pretty low) so I guess I’ll be sticking with it, especially since that’s pretty. Uch my only complaint

With 250 Apps on my cell, since this App came out, it’s by FAR been the most essential App I have. Its function is obviously limited to books, but as a “book guy,” with over 6000 books in my library, on on top of Gift Lists I keep for everyone to which I give books, & Wish Lists for myself, before buying any book, which I frequently do, I can scan the “potential” book & the App tells me if I have it in seconds. Plus, the amount of customizable data it can store is unsurpassed! NOTHING better!
