Detour user reviews :

Interesting app with a unique concept. I took a walking tour in the Venice canals. It was a lot of fun, and gave me bits of history that I didn’t know. However, sometimes the GPS couldn’t find me and I had to manually start the next part of the tour. Also, some of the information was outdated as businesses have changed ownership and names.

Great concept, but the Android app wants me to stand at the exact position of a story start. This means that if your device for whatever reason is slightly off, you can’t start (in my last attempt, the app wants me to start in the middle of a canal :) I saw that on iOS, you simply can start anyway, so off-location. Please make this work on Android as well.

We loved our tour – someone posted it to Facebook as an event for the public and so we joined a group of about 15 which made it even more fun. The recording and timing was well done and we broke up the tour with drinks at the Driskill hotel about midway through (it’s one of the stops on the tour anyway.) It’s a fair amount of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and bring some water. I hope they create more walks for Austin!

Great tours in Boston. I’m a Boston local and was looking for something different to do with visiting family. The tours in detour are so much fun and really informative. Looking forward to doing the Fenway Park tour with friends soon! I will be checking for detour tours wherever we travel now!

The tours are simply spectacular. I’ve taken 5 tours in 3 cities across the world, and somehow each of them has managed to engender an emotional connection to the city and stories presented by the app. The interface isn’t perfect, but the content MORE than makes up for the increasingly minor bugs. I recommend this app to anyone with a sense of wonder – you’ll find that curiosity rewarded.
