Tiny Planet mode (Beta): See your entire world in a whole new way! With Tiny Planet mode, you can easily capture, edit, and share 360-degree photos and videos right from the Essential Camera app. No third-party apps, necessary. *
AutoHDR (High Dynamic Range): Automatically detects and captures HDR scenes. Recovers more shadows and highlights details—so you get the most natural photos possible without having to layer on a bunch of filters.
Portrait mode: Create a shallow depth-of-field effect to make your subject (person or thing) stand out from the background! Tap to focus and adjust the amount of blur in real-time—so you can see what your shot will look like before taking it!
Black and White mode: Works with the dedicated monochrome sensor in your PH-1 to create rich black and white photos—so your pictures are vibrant with great low-light detail.
Video recording: Record your videos in stunning 4K resolution at 30 frames per second (fps) or 1080p HD at 30fps or 60fps.
Slo-mo video: Record slow-motion videos in 720p HD at 120fps.
Edit: Auto-enhance, apply filters, crop, tilt or straighten, and even adjust light and color with an incredible amount of detail.
Grid lines: Easily frame and take more striking photos and videos with 3 x 3, 4 x 4, and Golden Ratio grids (available in all modes).

It’s getting better. Still needs to be quicker when switching modes. I am not sure why so many people think the modded Google camera apk results in better pictures. For me it definitely does not. It’s faster but the pictures are noticeably worse. Especially indoors. My main gripe at this point is that the 360 lens has to be removed and applied again to activate it. It needs it’s own mode selector. Other than that it just needs to be quicker.
Update: ok the last 2 updates have been excellent. The 60fps darkness issue has been fixed. It also records smoother as well. Still hoping for more improvements. Noticing video has hissing noise. Pictures for the most part are improving too though still behind some flagships. Regardless a huge leap forward. So happy these updates are coming… As always don’t give up on us Essential. Camera was getting better until the last update. Video became very unstable especially in lighting. Had to revert back to a previous version. the potential is there. Please don’t give up on us Essential.
Great app supper smooth only thing missing for me is a manual mode, besides that great camera app!
This camera has only gotten better and Essential is relentless at updating their product. I use it and get great pictures.
