FBReader – Supports synchronization of your library

[App] FBReader

FBReader is a free ebook reader.

Main ebook formats: ePub (including main features of ePub3), Kindle azw3 (mobipocket), fb2(.zip).
Other supported formats: RTF, doc (MS Word), html, plain text.

Formats supported via free plugins: PDF (www.google.com/url?q=https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.geometerplus.fbreader.plugin.pdf), DjVu (www.google.com/url?q=play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.geometerplus.fbreader.plugin.djvu)

FBReader supports synchronization of your library and/or reading positions with the FBReader book network (books.fbreader.org/), a Google Drive™ based cloud service. Synchronization is disabled by default; to enable and configure it, use the preferences dialog.

FBReader is fast and highly customizable – it can use external TrueType/OpenType fonts and custom backgrounds, the screen brightness can be adjusted while reading (slide finger up/down along the left screen edge), and different day/night color schemes can be selected.

This reader also includes a browser/downloader to access different network ebook catalogs and stores. Several popular English, French, Russian, Chinese, and Polish libraries are included. Custom OPDS catalogs are supported too.

Alternatively, you can download books manually and save them on your device in /sdcard/Books.

FBReader is integrated with external dictionaries, including Dictan (www.google.com/url?q=play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.softex.dictan), ColorDict, Fora Dictionary, FreeDictionary.org, and LEO dictionary.

In addition, this reader is localized for 34 languages, and includes hyphenation patterns for 24 languages.

FBReader user reviews :

This is a truly great, highly customizable reader. It’s the only one I use. It does it all. Edit: for some reason I can no longer download books from any of the catalogs. Pressing on the download icon or word doesn’t do anything. This used to work flawlessly. New edit: I was able to get the downloading to work by deleting the FBReader cache and data files. Hope this helps anyone who has similar problems.

Everything is ok. But. I’ve ran into a problem. When we highlight a text on Android we can see the features list. One of them is translating. Almost all time we can use the native Google translate. But not using this app. Why should I use the unnoun Dictan? Do you know that no one have a .zd dictionaries in 2k19?

That’s the best app I tried for reading but still there are some things I don’t understand. For example, almost all books in .fb2 don’t show pics in day mode. Night mode is ok. Maybe I messed up with settings though.

A wonderful app especially when used in conjunction with the Gutenberg Project, a charitable project which is putting out classics that are out of copyright, no need for credit card details or any other personal info. Very, very useful for any student of literature, be it school, university or personal. I cannot praise this app high enough. BTW it can be used to purchase books as well.

Not a whole lot of features in this… And that’s a good thing. All I needed it to do is download project gutenberg books and make them easy to read. This app performs both those tasks easily and quickly. I also like that they have page number, time, and battery percentage at the bottom of the screen, but they make it real small so it doesn’t take space away from your reading material. Highly recommend this app!
