People across the world have been spotting an amazing line of bright moving lights in their night sky.
These are Starlink satellites launched by SpaceX, and they look like a “train” of moving lights since 60 satellites are launched together at a time.
Find out when you can see this phenomenon at your location!
This app is the official mobile version of the findstarlink.com website, which has been successfully serving Starlink predictions to people since May 2019 (when Starlink first launched). The findstarlink.com website has been mentioned on several press outlets like Yahoo! News, WIRED.it, and Florida Today, and receives daily user confirmations of successful Starlink sightings. This app additionally lets you set reminders, and works offline.
Designed to be simple and easy to use. First, please select your nearest city (or coordinates), and click on ‘Find Visible Times’. The app will list the times when you can see Starlink. You can also click ‘Remind me’ next to any timing, to get a reminder 30 minutes before Starlink will be visible at your location. A ‘Live Map’ lets you track where Starlink is currently in the world.

Find Starlink Satellites user reviews :
I’m pleasantly happy with this rather basic app. Really looking forward to seeing how the app develops in future versions. A bit niggling being in NZ as we are right where the map sort of breaks. Some further explanations or diagrams on how to interpret the angles that are given in your results would be helpful for beginners. This is still the app I will use for Starlink over other apps with too many other features. Good luck & clear skies to all
So, after a few attempts I finally saw one. By one, I mean, one measly satellite, not a train of them like all these apps make it seem. It’s very tiny and elusive, like trying to spot Mercury and it zips by fast. If it’s not a completely dark and clear night, you’ll easily miss it. Even with perfect conditions, it’s difficult to spot. Nothing at all like the videos you see.
- Hi Chris, sorry to hear that. Could you please let me know which time and approx location (nearest city) you tried to check? That’ll help improve the accuracy by checking what happened. I’m listening at dev[at]cmdr2.org, thanks
Sorry, to give one star but trying to view 10 minutes either side of the predictions have yielded nothing in both Portugal on the coast of the North Atlantic and for my family who live in the middle of nowhere and can see plenty of satellites. Clear nights, stars in the sky, yet the scheduled times seem to be wrong. App looks lovely but doesn’t seem to be on point. Map also doesn’t seem to tie in with sighting times either. Despite there being only one ISS, its trackers always work. I give up.

Looking at Portugal’s timings, I’m assuming you tried to see Starlink-2? It looks like Starlink-2 has spread out quite a bit, and is not very visible now. Unlike ISS which stays stable, Starlink is visible only for a short period of time, and often changes orbit. I’ve removed Starlink-2 from the list, thanks!
The app works fine for me, so far, on Android 6, ASUS Zenfone Selfie. I managed to see the 6,7 “trains” on April 24, as announced, and it was great! The poor visibility ones… not really. I think I briefly saw another train tonight, but I’m not 100% sure. I wish there were tooltips for all the details that are not obvious (even “max”), and maybe a recommendation for a good compass app.
Does not use my location, it uses the coordinates of the city that is listed under ‘By Name’. Yes, I have allowed it access to my location. Also, it’s really tedious looking for a city in the long long list. Same on webpage.
Useful information, helped me see the satellite train. Unfortunately, the app only works for approx half a minute, then it freezes or crashes. It’s not a phone performance problem, as I have a OnePlus 7t Pro…
- I’m very sorry about that. I can confirm certain device models are crashing, and identified the problem. I’m working on the update, please give me a day or two, and I’ll update this review. If you can send me an email at dev[at]cmdr2.org, I can let you know once the update is ready. Until then, findstarlink.com can give the timings. Thanks!
EDIT: seems to work now, although a little slow. changing score… Although I have yet to see a ‘train’. (I swear I changed this review once already!) … Original Review: Doesn’t work for me (Samsung S8+). Just says ‘”connection problem”. Tried reinstalling; all other apps work fine.
- Hi Rob, sorry about that. I’m releasing an update in a day or two, and hopefully that’ll solve the problem. I’ll update this review when that happens, so you get a notification email. Until then, you can use findstarlink.com to get the timings. Thanks!
I’d really love to give this 5 stars because I love spotting starlink trains, but since downloading, I have not seen one single starlink much less a train i check the app literally every evening and when I’m lucky enough to have a batch of starlinks predicted to fly right over my location, even on a perfectly clear night there is absolutely nothing. It’s quite disappointing! I’d love to have this app work! I’ll happily change to 5 stars if it’s fixed! Updating to 5 stars, thanks dev!
- Hi Jared, sorry about that. The satellites have been very hard to see recently, since the company owning them has reduced their brightness: bbc.com/news/technology-52391758 . This warning was mentioned as soon as the app started (in a popup message), and next to each result. The next Starlink launch will be visible for a few days. Thanks!
