Folder Player – Gives you direct access to your library

[App] Folder Player

WARNING: This is the proper and original Folder Player (folderplayer.com).

Please beware of other apps calling themselves “Folder Player”. I am constantly getting complaints about the apps I know nothing about :)

Already organized your music in folders? FolderPlayer gives you direct access to your library.
FolderPlayer is FREE (NO Ads, NO in-app purchases!), minimalistic but powerful alternative music player which uses folders to play music or audiobooks. Supports MP3, as well as (*IF* supported by your hardware), FLAC, WAV, AAC among others.
Play directories the same way you play individual audio tracks.

Longer Story:

FolderPlayer is a freeware which knows how to play whole directories. It can browse and play individual files, folders, or full folder trees.

Why another music player for Android?

There are many great mp3 players out there. If you’re happy with them, you probably don’t need another one. But chances are, you have the same problem as I had before I created this app – you tried many players, and your mp3 tag-based access to your music still too cumbersome, because your world defined – yes – by folders.

Is FolderPlayer a solution?

If you need advanced capabilities of a desktop player – FolderPlayer is probably not the right fit.
This player focuses on things that really are important: browsing and playing music on a portable device, and that’s exactly what makes this app stand out.

You can learn more, or leave your feedback at folderplayer.com

If you like the player – it is important to rate this app – here is why:
More people rate it -> more people see it -> more feedback -> more updates

(by the way, same applies to other apps you like, rate them too!)

Other features include:

integration with Bluetooth headphones (and car)
integration with last.fm (via scrobbler)
pauses during phone calls and navigation speech
sequential and random play
configurable settings
Equalizer
Double press headset button to skip track
Search

I would like to thank all the fans of this app, for your feedback, donations, and translations.

Folder Player user reviews :

This app is exactly what I needed from a player app. Which is the simplest thing, to select the folder with the music files you have stored in the memory and play it, simply as that. In the positives, the equalizer can be active or not (in order to get the real -neutral- potential of the files and hardware), set the home directory from you file system (I have selected the ‘Music’ folder) and optionally avoid deleting files/folders from this app in order to be protected from the human error. I’d like to see more beautiful font, backround theme variety, cd art while you are in the app and play a song.

Love the app. Using it for a while. Issue: just to experiment, I enabled all six menu buttons. Upon restarting the app, I was unable to enter into the settings. I thought it happened due to the screen size (handset model: Samsung sm-A520f). Finally I entered into the settings by longpressing the back button. You should have given an option to scroll the menu buttons horizontally. Request: kindly give an option to enlarge the track title instead of artist name, right now it’s the opposite.

I was searching for so long for an app to plays my music by the file name I arranged into folders (the way I keep it in my PC). Now the search is over. Thank you for an useful player, with no annoying ads or messy commands.

Intuitive UI. Became immediately operational with no guesswork involved. Perfectly read my SD card on a post-lollypop android. My only suggestion for improvement would be to allow the sleep timer to stop only at the end of a track; and finer control over the timer duration would be welcome to.

Exactly what I was looking for, simple ui yet many features can be tweaked in settings menu. Thanks for solving the problem of playing a music library built over years.
