Fox Spirit user reviews :

Fox Spirit is very well-written and an enjoyable experience to play through. I definitely feel that it has replay value, wanting to uncover all the mysteries you passed up to reach your previous ending. The only con to this book is it feels like the writer is holding your hand everytime you make a decision. You’re reminded ahead of time of the implications your choices have, which seemed to pull me out of the fantasy world each time. However, I still think it’s well worth the read!

The story is great, enveloping and complex, but the reason I say 3 stars is because the constant stat checking is frustrating!! I cant make a single decision without it blowing up in my face cause I didnt choose the right one. At that point it isnt even an interactive story anymore.. theres no freedom! So if you do decide to buy it or play the free trial, make a character clear as day and STICK WITH IT. Otherwise you’ll be as frustrated as I am..

The writing is competent, but I think the plot is spread too thin over too many moving parts, thus lacking depth. Same can be said of the ROs, there’s not much depth of character there beyond archetype. But what drops the rating from a 3 to a 2 is the way the stats work: I can’t choose my next objective and then choose my approach based on my best stat, this is all wrapped up in one single choice. So if the way I want the story to go needs a stat I don’t have, I’m basically screwed.

Its a decent story, noting groundbreaking. The characters are (with no disrespect to the writers) predictable and a little bland, there are only 5-6 that you should care about but they aren’t written well enough for you to form any sort of real attachment to them. The paths they present are interesting but I don’t feel like it was worth paying money to read Buy it only if you’re really bored and have nothing else to read. There are Other llc and hosted stories that are worth paying for.

This game is nice and well-written. It does have multiple different paths and endings to choose from. One complaint, however: As a reviewer here pointed out, if you decide on a path at the beginning of the game, you’d better stick to that path all the way. Other wise, things will blow up in your face later on, which can be frustrating. You can’t have a change of heart halfway through, that’s the only limiting factor.

My biggest issue with this story is that the scenes are described with too many unnecessary details. It feels like the author is trying to use more words, the longer the better, to increase the length without increasing the substance. Otherwise it’s a fun if somewhat simple story. If you’re the type to enjoy long, flowery descriptions and don’t expect much nuance, go for it. Otherwise, skip it.

edit: game is brilliant. the gameplay seems buggy at first but I think the pattern is just more subtle in the beginning. or maybe it took me longer to notice it idk. either way, this is a great story. could do with a bit more romance but otherwise I love it.

As someone who loves romance, this barely has enough to really keep my interest. It’s a good read if you don’t care that much about romance. I was hoping this has a little bit of Samurai of Hyuga in it, but alas, I was disappointed. I guess you don’t really know if you will like the direction of the story or not until you finish it. Really can’t wait for Book 5.
