[Game] Learn French Studycat

From the award winning creators of Studycat for Schools, comes Fun French! The #1 way for kids to learn français!

From preschool and beyond, Fun French inspires children’s innate love of learning with interactive games and activities.

Our bite-sized lessons will keep your child motivated while they discover a new language and build bilingual skills for a lifetime!

WHY STUDYCAT?

Learn French, in French. All our activities focus on language immersion, which means your child won’t be hearing any English. This might be confusing at first, but trust us, it’s the best way to learn.

Everyday Language. Our lessons teach words and expressions that kids can apply in their everyday lives, so they can get a head start developing their bilingual abilities.

Get Talking Fast. With our interactive speaking challenges, kids will be encouraged to produce and speak entire words and phrases on their own! The earlier kids start their language-learning journey, the more likely they are to reach proficiency quickly.

Vocal Variety. Our characters’ voices use different tones, expressions, and accents so that kids can pick up on the subtleties of pronunciation from different speakers.

Designed by Experts. All our activities are designed by language and early-education experts. Thoughtfully developed lessons will build your child’s confidence with every step.

Safe for Kids & Ad-Free. Parents can rest easy knowing that there are no pesky ads to distract children from their learning. All content is appropriate for ages 3 and up.

Offline Learning. On a plane, at a restaurant, or in a park? No problem! Fun French is available for both online and offline use.

I like this app a lot. The games are fun and it really is an effective learning tool. The games make the words stick! I won’t be using it anymore because I don’t want to pay for it.. The language apps should consider joining together with annoying ads (or funny ads like the ones on football games) and make one big app. I like duolingo as well; study at and bubblebath too. Like I said it would be amazing if they all joined together.. and free access would be great…. cartoons?!?

  • Merci !

At first I thought this app was too simple, but it’s clear that as my daughter (age 7) progresses, so do the complexity of the sentences used in the games. Her comprehension is clearly increasing. Of course this is for true beginners, starting from scratch, and it won’t produce fluent speakers by the end, but it will help with comprehension and prepare your child for learning in a more immersive environment.

  • Thanks ever so much for your detailed comments, we really appreciate them.

My 4-year-old really enjoys the games and has been learning French vocabulary words quickly. It was so promising, I started the trial for the full version – intending to pay for the annual subscription. Unfortunately, it’s so buggy on our tablet (a Google Pixel C) that I can’t justify the cost. Very frequently, a game will look frozen and have a strange flashing screen. This seems to happen most often on the activities with a lot of background animation like underwater scenes. I know those sorts of animations are memory-intensive, but the Pixel C’s specs (1.9Ghz processor, 3G RAM) are comparable to tablets you can buy today, so our tablet’s age shouldn’t be the problem.

  • Thanks for your comments. We are sorry to hear this. Please could you email us on help@studycat.com to discuss the issues you experienced?

Good points: it is really fun. Especially the colouring which lets the kids mix colours (ie mix red and yellow to get orange) my 4 year old absolutely loves this. My stubbornly anglophone daughter is now saying colours in french (sometimes). Bad points: it’s very expensive. Developers need to be paid but reading eggs is 1/3 the price and offers a lot more. There are games which are far too complicated for a 4 year old preschooler – like the candy crush game and spelling french words.

  • Hi Kay! Thank you very much for taking the time to review Fun French, your feedback is really appreciated. We’re glad to hear they are learning the colors.
