Pokemon TCG Pocket user reviews :

Pros: Ripping packs is great. They reel you in with being able to open a ton of packs right off the bat, and then slow down the rate drastically. Battle system is better than expected, but it’s more about just collecting. Cons: Highly addictive, but could easily become boring if you don’t drop money into it. Battle system may start to feel repetitive after awhile and largely depends on luck (but no more than any other TCG) Bugs: Crashes several times a day, but I haven’t lost anything from it.

Very good app so far, love the art, the game play and it’s pretty easy to learn! I had never played the actual card game but as of release I’ve been able to make it through all the quests to advanced! My main issue is the wait time. 12 hours is a little obnoxious for just one pack that doesn’t guarantee anything good. With the battles requiring you to get good cards, it makes it seem almost pay to win with what you’d have to spend to get a solid deck. Maybe shorter wait times, like 3 or 6 hours.

I do like playing the game so far. But I doubt I’ll be playing this a week out. Pros: The cards look fantastic, and it’s really fun collecting them . The battle system is fun even though it is a lite version. The solo battles have missions that add some extra difficulty that I enjoy. Cons: Not nearly enough solo content, and the online content needs to add more rewards for engaging. As well as a better matching system. The in-game currency became hard to get after my first day as well.

It’s great fun way to collect pokemon cards. Designs looks great and the animations are super clean. The downside though are that the amount of time it collect items to open packs. Also going first in a battle is almost a guaranteed loss. Edit: Had to lower it by a star because the battle matches has some issues that becomes more apparent after playing more. 2nd Edit: I’m just being petty now because I keep getting picked to go first in the coin flip. 10 times in a row. Lost all 10 matches.

The game is fun, visually nice and even if the frequency of free boosters is low, it is manageable to get a competitive deck in a few days. Most of the changes for combat are for the better, like the removal of prized cards and randomness in energy resourcing. However, as many people, I think that the change in the rules for the first turn is awful. It gives too much advantage to the player going second. The first player should be able to attach energy without attacking.

This game is very well done. The art style is simple, yet it sort of has a cool/relaxing vibe, strange that there’s a lot of reused card artwork from previous sets, but that doesn’t really change anything. The only issue I have is how long it takes to get a free pack, I feel that 12 hours is a bit much. I think, along with probably many others, that we should have some other way of getting free packs without having to use the “time skips” or waiting 12hrs. On that note, great game!

Game is fun, but there’s a lot of improvements that could be made. It’d be nice if you could win rewards based on points won instead of just a win/loss system, which would make it better than just getting nothing every time you lose. Additionally, the limit on hourglasses you can buy is annoying, and it’s not properly clarified that there’s a daily limit to the amount of “thanks” shop tickets you can get from battles. Add more battle quests and more details on battle stats (win ratio, etc).
