This isn’t a bad app. I have yet to pay for any features, I get everything i need from the app as it is. It is somewhat ambivalent about it’s identifications; it give 3 choices of what it might be. About 45% of the time, if you take 2 photos of the same stone, it will give different identifications. I think it is very good for an app, but more adjustments (adding detail?) May help.
This app is slightly picky when it comes to lighting, and it sturggles with smaller and/or less common rocks, but overall this is a very accurate tool for quick rock identification. They provide lots of information on how to identify the rock searched, and offers other options if you don’t believe the app has identified the rock correctly. Very helpful as I dive into the beautiful work of rocks and minerals!
Amazing way to identify rocks, crystals, without going to school for geology. Easy to use. Just point and take photo. Some are rare that if it wasn’t for the app, we probably just walk by not knowing the value. Easy to use, you can keep a log of your findings . That’s not even paying for the subscription. Good deal.
It’s a great user interface. App runs smoothly, really enjoyable to use. Loses stars because I got it for geology purposes, not weewoo crystal ID. Has a lot of crystal names instead of actual science names. Information has also been inaccurate by geo standards. Room for improvement of content but the app itself is great! There are also pictures here that mindat doesn’t have. (Bumped my rating cos I found the name of the rock I’ve been stumped on for weeks.)
Because yes you give a roundabout correct identification for the rock or stone but at the same time sometimes you don’t give the correct anything on it it doesn’t even match and the app would be a lot better if you could search different things on there like say gold and Rock and then it gives you an example of what it looks like that would be a lot better than only searching what you have looked up that doesn’t make any sense if I wanted to search what I looked up then I would just scroll down
