VolumeP – Uses the minimal possible Accessibility Service configuration

[App] VolumeP

VolumeP allows users to disable the default popup to change volume media on the top of the screen in favor of a side popup.

Volume P uses the minimal possible Accessibility Service configuration to listen to volume keys to launch the side popup and does not observe any user action or text that they type; however this privilege is mandatory for all accessibility services, but Volume P disregards any events the system does send, except for those mentioned that anyway are not recorded.

Also Volume P uses the performGlobalAction() Accessibility service feature to perform default usage of hardware key like menu, home and back, to restore the user experience otherwise compromised from the same Accessibility service.

VolumeP user reviews :

This app is very cool, and I love the Android P style for the volume rockers. I think it’s a perfect idea, though, the only problem I have with it is the whole Android P1 and 2 accessibility options to enable in settings… Which one do I hope? Also, something’s it doesn’t work when I try to change the volume of the media when the device is in standby. Otherwise, works amazingly!

The app works just as promised, but I’m experiencing a bug where if i lock my phone and then open it again, the default volume slider will show instead of the one provided in the app. I would have to reactive it through accessibilities each time i turn on my phone. I enjoy the app, but this is extremely inconvenient. Running on Android Oreo and I have given it all the permissions it requires

I think overall this app has potential, the issue i have with it is when pressing two button to screenshot and it thinks im changing my volume.

  • To prevent this issue, just press volume down+power when VolumeP is not visible. For other question, send an email to dev.touchbar[at]gmail.com

It’s a great app that gives your phone a cool volume rockers. Excluding some issues regarding switching to Do not disturb mode the app is absolutely fine

I am very much impressed by this app and I would like you guys to create an app for Android p style power off and reboot option.

Hey, excellent app but can you please add a way to access the bar without touching any physical button. I mean, the only reason I wanted to use this in the first place is because I have a phone with a large screen and I wanted a way to adjust the volume without pressing any button. Thanks in advance
