Great tool. Could save a life. It would be nice if there was a search function in the saved location screen. I have over 150 locations and it is time consuming trying to find a specific location. That’s the only reason I have given it 4 stars. Waze is now not working when you try to navigate. It opens waze but no rout appears. It is still working via Google maps

  • Hi Chris, thanks for getting in touch. We’re glad to hear you’re a fan of what3words, I’ll pass the feedback along to our team here and see if we’re able to add in a search function – thanks for the idea! Sarah.

Lost my car at the airport! Good concept but ultimately it’s relying on the reported location accuracy of the phone. I used this because i was in a rush to catch my plane. I marked the location and checked to see the resolution was acceptable. It indicted it was so i saved the three words. 2 weeks later it took me 15 minutes to find my car! It was way out. I don’t have time to verify the location accuracy everytime when I’m in a rush so I’ll be going back to my trusted method of taking photos.

  • Hi Dominic, we are sorry for the inconvenience. The GPS signal of your device gets distorted easily e.g. indoor use, any type of cover and etc. To help increase the accuracy we suggest going outdoors or retapping the location button and waiting until the blue dot stabilizes. I hope this is helpful. Thank you, Naya

Great premise, however the app failed to be effective when I found myself calling emergency services today. Firstly, when opening the app it didn’t pick up my current location, rather the location I last used the app, which was an hour away from where I was, and therefore relaying the wrong location to the operator. Once I’d realised my mistake, I relayed the correct words, but the operator had trouble locating me as they misinterpreted one of the words. Not what you need in an emergency.

  • Hi Jesse, sorry to hear this and thanks for sharing your experience. When using the app in an emergency, we always recommend tapping the locate button to make sure it’s updated to your current location. We’d like to hear more about your experience and see if we can make some improvements, can you reach out to support[at]what3words.com? Thanks, Sarah

Useless. Nice idea but doesn’t work. Tried this app because delivery drivers can find our house. Stood at front door and pressed the button to get 3 words. Pressed again, got 3 different words. Pressed 20 times and got 20 different sets of words without moving an inch. Can’t see how this would be any good in an emergency.

  • Hi Alison, sorry to hear this. If you’re using the app indoors the GPS signal isn’t always strong enough – GPS is stronger when your device can see the sky. For finding your address, try switching to satellite mode and clicking the square on your front door. If you’d like to find out more please get in touch at support[at]what3words.com. Thanks, Sarah

This is a very useful App. Am currently visitng India and I can see that it would be a great help if it were adopted as a navigation aid by delivery services such as Swiggy and also Uber/Ola. Even for rendezvous with friends. In India, regular road names and numbering are more often than not hard to figure out, and will not be fixed in the near term, if ever. In rural areas, even worse as the concept of naming roads is new, ~20 years. What3words could be used to bypass that.
