Great app, overall. The exact dimensions of the devices are not completely accurate, but seems close. Good visual effects, allows viewing the virtual devices and a couple of sample screens.
The user interface for choosing which phone you want could use some improvement. As it currently stands, it feels very “beta”. But once you’re in AR mode, the effect is magical. It’s a great app for showing off to your friends, guaranteed to impress. @Steven: I think the problem you’re experiencing is probably due to the size of the paper. Try inserting it into a Word document and setting the dimensions at 8.06 cm x 13.53 cm, or thereabouts.
This is an excellent useage of AR technology. Love how you can handle and move around in your hand and it’s always great at wowing your co-workers. To make it a better expereince, you should print your code/image marker to a PDF so users can just open and print without worrying about the size. I’m okay with the minimal take on UI, but wish it could be a bit faster during transition (not the fastest app on my S3).
The concept is really cool and helpful for those wanting to pick up a new device but worried about device size. But to me it seems the devices portrayed a a lot larger than they appear to be. IE: Nexus 7 appears to be larger than my Transformer 300 and appears to be ~10inches tall when it’s about 8″ max when I held up a ruler. I didn’t scale the image at all either. Sorry if I came off as a complainer, just want to let you know in my trials that dimensions may be off. I did give it a 5 after all :) Would love to see this go a lot further. @Laurence: Thanks! Will give it a shot when I get home from work and will probably end up working as it should. Go practical AR apps!
Cool idea. Needs more phones, HTC one X would be good to see. Marker should be smaller if possible. Not sure how much the images can be trusted, the nature of the technology makes everything feel a wee bit of an illusion.
This is an awsome idea but as suggested by other some other users , portrayed image is not to scale i.e I put the galaxy s3 next to mates and it was way bigger. This is diffinetly a five star app if this could be fixed. Please do
Works very well, though you do need a phone with a large screen to get best results. I do hope a lot more phones will be added soon!
It would be great if we could capture image we are looking at. And maybe make PDF file for image download so it is easier to print it in correct size (if you print image bigger then all devices looks bigger).
This is pretty cool, never seen anything work like it! Would love further development, as it’s cool and useful!
I once made a paper box of a phones dimensions to see how it would feel in my hand before I ordered it online. This isn’t as useful as that though – but it’s great to see how phone sizes compare to your current phone. That LG Vu is HUGE.
A super sweet app for measuring if a phone will fit comfortably in you hand. A very helpful tool.
Great stuff. I can make a 3d comparition. And it works fine. Hope to se more models soon (y)
