Howl – Shape your own prophecy

[Game] Howl

Howl is a turn-based tactical folktale set in medieval times. A sinister “howling plague” has ravaged the land, turning all who hear it into feral beasts. You play a deaf heroine plunging into danger in search of a cure.

Plan up to six steps in advance to outmaneuver your opponents: wolfish creatures filled with hunger and rage. Various types of fiends are lurking in the shadows, each of them possessing different abilities and their own levels of vitality. So, you need to consider carefully the strategy that will bring them to their knees.

Not only do you have your wits to rely on while plotting your attack, you also have an array of abilities at your disposal. As you slay more wolves, you acquire skills like Vault, Smoke Bomb, and Piercing Shot. Venture forth on your journey to upgrade your skills and unlock more Action Slots and Undo Round Points. As you plan your moves, you will also shape your own prophecy, composing a dynamic work of scripture as you fight.

Howl’s visuals are created through “living ink”, a flowing art style that paints the story as you play. Carve your way through a dark, fairy-tale world made up of obscure yet magical places where you fight and write to rid the lands of the plague.

Howl user reviews :

So far from the demo it’s good! I can’t buy it so that’s a bummer but best of luck to this game! I love these strategy games. The voice isn’t distracting or out of place from the board and it also provides help in case one needs it, which is thoughtful. I don’t know what goes past the demo so it could be bad or repetitive later on, I won’t ever know, but it’s very nice. Well made!

Once you get to a certain point you have to pay to get the full game… there was no warning or anything just suddenly it said I had to upgrade to full version. However if your willing to spend money it’s honestly a great game.

It’s an interesting and beautiful game. It’s kinda like a game of chess and it gets more complicated as the number of enemies increase and there are people you have to save. I haven’t played the complete game yet but the demo was interesting.

Great game which I played on PC first, but it would be good to have Google Play Games support for cloud saves and achievements, it’s a bit annoying not being able to switch between my S23 and my Galaxy tablet

The game is awesome. A complete new idea and good looking game with fine characterising and good story. Music and narrator also fit the game. If I could I would definitely buy it.

Fun and light puzzle game with beautiful art. Well worth the $3 premium and a fraction of the console price for the same game. Works perfectly with Backbone controller.

Only playing the demo of this game. Very gud! The art, narration, gameplay is simple. Not too much blood nor too violent. Keep up the good work!

I love this game. Each chapter requires plenty of strategy which keeps you entertained for a while, definitely worth the cost. I just wish it was longer.

This is actually super sick! If you’ve played unmatched you’ll love it. Obviously not the same but strategies are similar and the lore they give is fun. Please try this game!

Really solid tactical game, worth the full-game purchase. Was so addicted to this that I 100’d it in a day, which isn’t to say it’s too easy… Some of the levels took a very specific combo to complete. Soundtrack is very chill too. If I had to pick an improvement, I wish there were something to unlock upon collecting all courage and skulls – an alternate ending, a unique power, concept art… As a completionist, I was a little disappointed to receive nothing for it. Otherwise very satisfying!

Amazing, love the art style, the atmosphere and smooth gameplay

I like the game graphics and the mysterious style of the game. Unfortunately, there were not enough free levels to figure out how to win and to understand if I liked the game or not.
