Libby user reviews :

The app is extremely slow to open every single time and whether you have downloaded the material (either audio or book) or not, it is very slow to load the material. And for audio, when you press play and you try to then stop it or back it up, it takes a solid 15 seconds before it will respond to your command, every single time, regardless of whether it is downloaded or not. So the app is perfectly serviceable for checking items out of the library but Overdrive did that AND worked as a reader.

The app works well. 2 things could use improvement: 1) The UI can be clunky. 2) If I have borrowed and downloaded an audio book, it won’t let me open it and start playing it without an Internet connection. But if I start playing it and lose the Internet connection, it continues to play without problem, so I know it isn’t streaming. This is REALLY annoying when traveling with an unreliable connection. Streaming services let you download and play vids offline for this reason. Why doesn’t this?

I love the interface. It is better than any other audiobook app I have tried and smarter than any media app. Android integration is perfect. I only listen. Reading on a screen is not for me. Long live the dead-tree book. While the public library system might not have the broad selection and availability of current works that paid services do, you sure can’t beat the price. Holds and borrows are easily managed. I highly recommend that everyone give this app a spin.

I love this app. HOWEVER, be forewarned: Many times in Audio books it skips forward to other chapters or to the end and you can’t go back to retrieve it because it just shoots you forward again! I’ve had to return the audio and borrow the reading book just to finish or forget it altogether if I’m not able to get another audible or readable book in a timely fashion. Putting that aside, I love this app!

I love this app. I turned to audiobooks so I could “multi-task” and not be tethered to one location. While I do sometimes end up on a waiting list for my book of choice, the time passes quickly (because I can download several books at a time). Borrowing time is 2 weeks. You receive reminders close to return time then the book just disappears without any action on your part, on the due date. Should you want the book again, it opens where you were interrupted.

This app is fantastic if you enjoy reading e-books or listening to audiobooks. The layout is easy to navigate, it looks great on my phone, and it makes it incredibly simple to borrow library books & magazines. I especially appreciate the ability to tag books, set alerts for new books, and use a sleep timer. *I’d appreciate a more intuitive way to view previously borrowed books. Libby certainly beats the experience I’ve had with Kindle and Audible; I highly recommend Libby!

Love it, The option of audio books is great for reading when driving to and from places. Wish they had some of the more lesser known books, but it’s understandable why they don’t. Only thing I really don’t like is not having an entire series in audio books so you have to switch between audio and reading and it’s hard when you don’t have time to actually read. The whole app is set up really well though and is easy to navigate. All and all I love this app and I use it all the time.
