Update for 2024… Casting straight up doesn’t work. I love this app so much and was SO READY to fork over some $ once the trial ended. This is really just a perfect solution for replacing Google Play Music. Honestly it’s better all around, I wish I had made the switch sooner. I miss having the podcasts, but it’s a minor thing that Magic Radio more than makes up for.
A new issue recently is that the application no longer caches the Dropbox files correctly – even for files which I have keep downloaded. I connect to a speaker, I start a playlist, and it just skips through the entire list to the end, as if the files don’t exist or they are empty. I even tried recreating the playlist, and it’s still happens. This is frustrating because I normally have different playlists for when I go to bed, and it won’t play anything.
- It can take some time for the album art to appear, especially for larger music libraries. This is normal. We also recommend you do the set-up over WiFi to speed things up
- CloudPlayer’s playback engine is tailored to cloud services while doubleTwist Classic was designed for local playback & iTunes sync. They are completely different. We’ll eventually transplant the CloudPlayer audio engine to doubleTwist Classic but it’s a major undertaking as it also involves podcasts, radio & sync and won’t happen until next year.
