Okay, so overall, the app is okay. I never really had issues pairing with my headset, so I can’t speak to that. Never had issues pairing anything on the old or new app, so again, I can’t speak to that. Here is my issue though: the app store is not good. There are several apps that just don’t show up unless they’re specifically searched for. Regardless of if they’re in experimental stages or not. I’ll give an example. I searched for art apps. The pencil app didn’t show up, which is insane.

Initially setup and connected with my Samsung Note 8. Now…even after I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it… It still will not connect to my Note 8. Says ‘device nearby’ then after failing to connect with the phone and Go literally inches apart… It says ‘no nearby device.’. Useless as far as trying to view my pictures and other media on my phone!
Shouldn’t this app be called Oculus Go? Not Oculus as I’m a Rift user… Don’t own a Go… Still use oculus though… No unification going on here and that is a massive disappointment!

Very cool, I would like to see it link up with my rift account as well for download and library purposes. Another feature that would be nice would be a total space used on the Go. I picked up the 64 gig headset, and it would be nice to see what amount of space I’m using on games and videos. Update: I reduced to two stars because of double payments in the oculus stores. I own some apps that are in the go store on my Oculusrift store. Same account. Have to pay full price for the same apps in the go store. This is infuriating. I will not change my star rating, nor recommend oculus to anyone until this changes. I’m rather upset I spent money in the rift store at this point. Buy a Lenovo headset instead.

Best be ever. Has Netflix too. It’s worth every penny for a VR set. Imitations are garbage. This is the real deal
Update: after receiving information from the dev I am upgrading my review. I still feel that it is a little buggy when it comes to older model phones, this is understandable at its current version. We have tested this on the Nexus 6p, pixel 2, Samsung S9, and a Coolpad from T-Mobile.

- Hello there. The Oculus Go companion app does require a compatible phone to function. However, the app is only actually needed for the initial setup of the hardware. After the headset is set up, you can use mostly all the features without using your phone at all. Thanks.
Great app with some room for improvement. I’d love to see a wishlist for apps, as well as an option to rename a paired device.
