Has its pros for scores, records, etc., but what I really hate is when I get a push notification for a video, half the time (or more), after sitting through multiple ads that you can never skip, I’m taken to a completely different video. So after sitting through a minute or two of ads, I just wasted my time to get to a video I don’t care about and didn’t want to see in the first place!
When the app works, it’s fine. WHEN IT WORKS. Often it will fail to realize that we pay for ESPN+ through the Disney Bundle, which requires a restart of the app to fix, sometimes two. The video playback is terrible on the app and on the desktop site, constantly going black/blocky and losing quality with NO manual adjustment option. Let me pick what resolution I want to see! The app will also often freeze upon opening, showing nothing but a gray screen, the header, and a frozen loading wheel.
It’s great when it works. The lack of consistency is mainly why I’m giving it 2 stars. I am paying for ESPN+ through a bundle package and 8/10 of the time when I am trying to watch something on Plus the app tells me that my session has expired and that I need to log in again. I have logged out/in and restarted devices to no avail. Now I queue up events 30-60 minutes before start time because I don’t know if it will play and I need enough time to troubleshoot. Missing a race right now!
Good selection of content. Unfortunately had a absolutely garbage video player. Does not work with the rotation of your device, touching the screen could skip the video to a random spot or ahead/behind 10 seconds, and too much fiddling can easily cause the app to crash. If it wasn’t bundled with Hulu and Disney I wouldn’t even bother having the app on my device. Oh and if I’m watching a TV series I have to go all the way back to click on the next episode instead of having it as a recommendation
