Sonic The Hedgehog 2 user reviews :

Not gonna talk about the game itself here, I instead want to focus on this game as a port (OG game’s a 4/5 by the way). This port is amazing. The controls are smooth as butter and it even runs on 60fps! The physics were also tweaked upon for smoother gameplay and it’s stellar. The revamped Special Stages, widescreen, new characters, even a new Zone– truly incredible port. Good job to everyone in the team.

An excellent remake of the original game! I’m quite the stunned it plays so well on Mobile devices. It contains a lot of content for you to enjoy, including Knuckles in Sonic 2 to play off the bat. The ad’s aren’t that annoying, but if they really bother you than you can get an ad blocker or turn off your Wi-Fi. The gameplay is the same as the original, which still holds up nicely, and the music is still outstanding. Thank you Christian Whitehead and HeadCannon!

Besides the ads, I genuinely can’t think of a single negative aspect about this port. It controls extremely well for mobile standards, it has a save feature and multiple save files, it’s in wide screen and improved the special stages, there’s multiple options for how to play, the added modes are neat, and I mean… Come on! It’s Sonic The freakin’ Hedgehog 2! If you like old school games but don’t have the consoles to play, this game and the port of the first game are easy recommendations.

Awesome I love sonic 2 and it is my third favorite sonic game. (CDS my favorite) love the game play controls all of it. And I even don’t mind the ads. I get it you have to somehow make money from publishing a free app. But the one thing that bothers me on this port is that you need Internet connection just to play it. Because this is one of those games that I would love to play on the go unfortunately I would have to use up data to do that. But otherwise a great game and a great port.

Fantastic remaster with tons of extras that runs just like I remember it back in my childhood. Unfortunately the ads hamper the experience. They cover the whole screen with a 3 second countdown every time you start and end a round. However it’s only $1.99 to remove the ads and enjoy nostalgia at it’s finest. Thank you, SEGA.
