Termux – Combines terminal emulation with an extensive Linux package

This is the best app for any serious programmer/hacker/geek (like me) or complete linux beginner. I seriously have a (almost) full linux installation on my tablet, a web server running 24/7 on another, and a phone for quick python scripts when they pop into my head. I even have a desktop vnc so I can connect it to my computer for long coding sessions! I can even setup SSHD and FTPD on my tablet’s web server in case it goes offline. Thank you so much fredrik! you did an AMAZING job on this app!

This is a great app! You probably can’t do everthing with Termux but if you have reasonable expectations of what’s possible, then you will not be disappointed. It gets better all the time. Maybe some packages may not work and not all libraries are available for Arm but you can do a great deal: ssh, zsh, git, nodejs, Python 2 & 3, zsh, powerline fonts (with Termux-Styling plugin). I can work anywhere with just my Android tablet and the battery lasts hours, unlike my PC. :-)

Hands down the best terminal emulator for Android. Period. Not only does it support the standard SSH client, multiple session etc but it also comes with a copy of apt-get (invoked as pkg) with some custom PPAs so you can install whatever functionality you need. Full blown Linux prompt. Haven’t tried rooting with it yet (don’t think it helps you root, but it lets you do cool stuff if you already have). I recommend using this with Hacker’s Keyboard (unrelated developer) with arrow keys etc.

This app is amazing, you can use almost all the tools you’re used to from a regular desktop Linux. I mostly use it for ssh, but also did some programming (C++ and Python) on my phone with it. I can even run Jupyter Notebook from it!

I dont know what i would do without this to entertain myself through the extra boring times. 5 stars all day. I started with this on a non-root phone as well and it is unbelievably compatible (note 9). Mostly use it on nexus 5 now. such a large following the help you need is a a page away. kudos to the developer.
