FotoTool user reviews :

Came across this while searching for a light meter – this isn’t one (as I found out) but a tool for calculating exposure times based on pictures you’ve just taken (so also primarily for digital cameras). Has useful bokeh and startrail calculators…but my search must continue.

Tried others but this is the best. It’s comprehensive without being complicated.

Almost perfect! If focal distance is a fraction (say .015ft), it would improve usability a lot to just convert that to inches

Does everything I expected. I wanted an app to help calculate exposure values and shutter times and this app amply covers that plus a few more features. the upgrade price to the ad free version was dirt cheap so why not? Thanks for a well done app!

Has many useful functions. Uses meters but my lens is marked with meters so that is good. The depth of field function works great. This is going to be going to be great.

This is a wonderful app for helping you know the correct settings to use in different situations. There’s a nice help area as well to help you understand why you’re using the various settings on your camera for whatever type of photo You’re attempting to take.

All in one with a great simple user interface. So many great features like Bokeh and DOF, Long Exposure Calculator with ND filter, Sun and Moon, Startrails to mention a few… Excellent in-app help on each menu item. Ads do NOT seem to be intrusive.

This app has a lot of good features, but is missing (or I just couldn’t find) a field of view calculator. Kind of a shame because everything else is handled quite nicely. But I was specifically looking for FOV.

  • Hello Richard! The FOV calculations are included at the bottom part of the DOF section ;) Regards!!
Seems intuitive… Will update review when I try nd values in the field but I notice there is always a message saying “calc. Failure of reciprocity” in the results box. What does this mean?

  • Hello Den! If you don’t use analog film you don’t have to worry about it. In photography reciprocity is the inverse relationship between the intensity and duration of light that determines the reaction of light-sensitive material. It usually happens with ANALOG CAMERAS and FILMS. Info: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reciprocity_(photography)

This is a great almost-all-in-one tool for so many photo calculations. This is clearly understandable, easy to use, and well organized. A good tool to learn different concepts and techniques.

This app is an excellent tool, and it includes a flashlight and notepad, normally two separate apps on their own.
