I figured out how to get WEMO devices installed. Works when it works which is most but not all of the time. Never did understand why the app needed location permission to set up as the phone and devices are on the same broadcast domain. WEMO wore my patience thin. They never did release a 3 way dimmer and last I checked they dropped wired dimmers and 3 ways completely. I have since replaced all WEMO wired switches with z-wave independent of the cloud. Much faster response too.
- Hello, The Wemo app prompting for an update to access rules has been fixed in our most recent release (version 1.25.1). You should no longer be prevented from accessing rules. Thank you for the patience while we fixed this bug!
I am constantly losing pairing on multiple devices day by day. I know sooner than re-pair one then another goes out. Every once in awhile I lose everything and have to repair everything all over again. There is a possibility that it’s poor Wi-Fi but I’m not sure. I currently have DSL service but I’m waiting for the insulation of carbon fiber which should improve things I’m hoping.
Still works fine on two Galaxy S8 phones that I still have, stuck on Android 9; but it doesn’t work on my new Galaxy running Android 13. It will not find and add Wemo devices on my network. ETA: I figured doing a factory reset on one of the Wemo smart plugs. After that, this app informed me that I needed to enable location access for the app, and that was the root cause. Makes sense now, but it would have helped to know this two weeks ago.
It’s great when it works. I’ve had my Wemo plugs for awhile, some longer than others. Then, usually when I’m in bed, they are “not connected” and u have to set it back up. I have them located in places that aren’t easy to get to. I don’t understand why they go offline; wifi didn’t blink & plug-in wasn’t hit. It’s extremely frustrating!
Every time I have a firmware update, I have to re install my devices. Here I am again 3/9/17. Firmware update : My devices aren’t connecting. 11/15/17 Tried Firmware Update again. Switches stuck in upgrading….. Again. Uninstalled, reinstalled, and will not do Firmware Upgrade. 10/25/23, Had to reinstall a switch. It took forever to reconnect to the WeMo app. 07/16/24, wifi disconnected, and wemo devices will not come back online. Once again, I struggle to get them working.
Generally works. Some issues on periodic dropouts or loss of device. Sometimes rules are lost for no reason. My iPad rules transition to Android, but then DISAPEAR from iPad. WTH? Makes no sense. Bad likkage between iOS and Android. Same account. 2024 – App is problematic. iOO vs Android don’t operate the same and do not sync. Periodically loose a device for no apparent reason.
