Age of Empires has beautiful graphics, dynamic weather, and well-designed civilians. But it’s disappointing that the epic castle battles, which the game is best known for, are missing. You can’t see the real-time fights where soldiers attack and defend castles, and this takes away from the overall experience. This feature is only available in alliance and big fights, which doesn’t make the game stand.
So, Age of Empires Mobile, it has solid graphics and fun mini-games, comparable to other MMOs and the city building looks great. No pop-up ads is a big plus to, and I can see it progressing well. That said, it is very heavy on battery use and causes my device to get hot (Samsung fold 6). The UI could use some tweaks—tabs are hard to see and could be simpler, and the controls feel a bit clunky and delayed. Still, for a day 1 release, it’s worth giving a shot. Looking forward to future updates!
Not like the PC version of Age of Empires at all. It’s mostly a Gacha autobattler with base building and very little in the way of RTS battles. The intro section contains a glimmer of what could have been, but beyond that, it’s disappointing. It’s a really confusing choice to pivot to this type of gameplay. If that’s the sort of thing you’re interested in, though, it works well and the graphics look good.
Not really Age of Empires. More like a big update to the old AOE Castle Siege game but massively over complicated with so many different side quests. On the positive, graphics are really good, no ads and although there are plenty of in-app purchases, they’re not shoved in your face every 20 seconds although as you get further in, progress seems to be slowing down to get you to buy something. I used to have Age of Empires for the Pocket PC – I’d rather they remake that and I’d pay up-front.
Not like the original games. Not sure why it’s called Age of Empires. It has none of the gameplay or RTS style mechanics of the original games. It’s just another base builder with increasingly long wait time for each upgrade to your base or heroes to try and get you to buy silver (in-game currency). The battles are minimalistic with no strategy aside from picking which targets to attack first and hitting fight. The game has very good graphics, but it should not be called Age of Empires, IMO.
