Brain Teasers – A set of logic

[Game] Brain Teasers

Brain TeasersThis application is a set of logic, math, geometry, number, matchstick and other types of brain teasers that require logical thinking.

All the puzzles and riddles are available in English, Russian, Chinese, Czech and Slovak language.

Sample brain teaser:
There are three switches downstairs. Each corresponds to one of the three light bulbs in the attic. You can turn the switches on and off and leave them in any position.
How would you identify which switch corresponds to which light bulb, if you are only allowed one trip upstairs?

Answer:
Keep the first bulb switched on for a few minutes. It gets warm, right? So all you have to do then is switch it off and switch another bulb on. Then walk into the room with bulbs, touch them and tell which one was switched on as the first one (the warm one). The others can be easily identified :-)

This and all other brain teasers and pictures are provided by brainden.com/puzzles-riddles.htm where you can find other puzzles as well.

Brain Teasers user reviews :

Great App to spend time and Teaseing own or creative other’s mind…

I’m glad you can access any question without solving any. It’s a personal challenge, not a competition. However, some of the logic answers are severely flawed. I’m thinking of the honestants and swindlecants. In #6, there are two statements, not one. In #5, there is no way to tell because an if-then statement is only proven false if {p and not q}. Any other combination could be present when the if-then statement is true or false. These are good questions, though, even if the answers are rubbish.

I’ve downloaded about 10 different puzzle/riddle apps and this is probably the best. Has all of the classics and a lot of new takes that I haven’t seen before as well as useful summaries of how to get the answer for a lot of questions (most apps just give you the answer and no explanation as to why). It’s clear the authors know their stuff and haven’t just copy and pasted riddles and answers off the internet. Everything is nicely organized too.

Flawed logic in the reasoning problem “stamps”. There’s no way to know what person B had because the grand master still has 2 stamps in his pocket. Persons A and C could both have had 1 green and 1 red stamp. Because there are still 4 stamps unknown to person B, he would only stand a 1 in 3 chance of guessing correctly. If the grand master had 2 green stamps in his pocket, person B could guess 2 reds on his forehead and be correct.

I noticed an error in the answer options on Numbers puzzle #5. I won’t give the answer away for those who don’t want a spoiler, however. I don’t yet know if there are others errors elsewhere.

You basically read the riddle and try to figure out the answer. Probably great to use when you have a bunch of people at a party, perhaps, but it doesn’t give you anywhere to input an answer.

The logic in the “stamps” isn’t flawed. Though 2 stamps are kept by the grand master, person B can still deduce his stamps are red-green(RG) because A can’t deduce his own stamps’ colour. If person B has RR and C has RG, A would deduce like this “If I have GG, C would think like this ‘if I have RR, A would know he has GG. If I have GG, B would know he has RR. So I must have RG.’ (A continues) But C didn’t say that. So I don’t have GG and must have RG!” But A can’t deduce like this, showing that B is not RR.

Some of the options don’t match the answer, like one said the answer was “minus” when the description of the answer said “decimal point – 5.9” which is a different choice that the app said was incorrect, besides that, great app

Best tough riddles available in app store.

A very beautifully deaigned app . . . keep it up . . Would love it if the developers added a share option to share the puzzles with friends.
