Very interesting premise, good graphics, sound effects, and use of voice acting. The problem is the somewhat unintuitive controls that are not well explained to start, and the lack of labels on icons. UI navigation felt very clumsy and combat controls and icons are left almost entirely up to guesswork. Great potential, but currently feels very polished in some areas, and almost unplayable in others. I’ll be keeping at it periodically for updates and could change my rating.

I’ve been a Homeworld fan boy since the original game released back in 1999. And have played all of the games that have released for this IP since. Seeing this game, I got excited, and i haven’t been let down yet. Fantastic visuals and soundtrack, a non-aggressive monetization setup, decent controls for mobile use, and a story that keeps the feel of the series. My biggest gripe would be that the tutorial doesn’t cover all of the icons and controls, so I had to learn what does what on the fly.

Oddly difficult to engage with. There is way too much exposition in the beginning and the game feels like it is holding your hand way too much in the beginning but the game throws so many different paradigms at you that it is hard to understand what the basic gameplay loop even is. When the game finally leaves you on your own for the first time, I found myself just staring at the screen with no motivation to do anything at all, the game feeling suddenly arbitrary.

Overall, this small studio has captured the homeworld feel, and has incorporated as much of the RTS style of gameplay that they can for phones. The micro transactions are there, but NO ADS ARE PRESENT and you can largely ignore the paid items. The graphics are stellar. Controls are complex and take getting used to. Would love an update that allows you to individually target enemies with different units in the future.
