Plickers – Lets you poll your class

[App] Plickers

Plickers  Plickers lets you poll your class for free, without the need for student devices.

Just give each student a card (a “paper clicker”), and use your Android smartphone or tablet to scan them to do instant checks-for-understanding, exit tickets, and impromptu polls. Best of all, your data is automatically saved, student-by-student, at plickers.com.

Happy teaching!

What an easy way to poll students while putting the burden of owning electronic equipment on the teacher/ school instead of the student. I love it. Pre pandemic I have 5 stars. I have not found a way to make it work in the virtual setting so now I’d give 4.5 if I could.

It’s not amazing, but it is genuinely harder to get rid of than Facebook. You have to send them an email requesting they delete your account, then they send you secret messages, NOT to your email, saying “are you sure?”, “we haven’t heard from you so we assume you don’t want to delete your account?”, “thanks for choosing to stay with us”. Infuriating.

New version is clumsy and counter intuitive. The only update needed was a new coat of paint, but the devs took it way too far. Example, clicking on a question opens up a side menu for more options, but clicking on the right side arrow of a question takes you to a new page for options. How does that make sense? I would honestly consider upgrading based on the old version, but new version makes even using it for free a tough choice.

I love this app and created so many assessments. The new updates freeze it up after every question

This app used to be incredibly helpful for quick formative assessment but the recent changes have made it incredibly cumbersome. I can no longer add questions from my phone, and my phone is unable to show me individual student responses in real time. I have used this app for years and advocated for it as way to provide useful formative data. I am very disappointed with the recent changes

Love this program and have been using it for many years. I would still like to see an equation editor for math/science

Old=Hooked, New=See Ya! What happened? I can’t make questions on the go now? Really? What am I paying for again? The graph & reveal functions also only work on the first question ONLY then you are tied to the computer for the duration of the review. After 100 questions I’m over it! I’ve emailed the company back and forth and all I’ve gotten is they are working on it with no updates and no fixes. I’m working it out with my institution to switch apps out soon. I’ll not miss the “new” version.

Not happy with this new version/upgrade! Why do I need to click “Upload Plicker” again then click “Open” before I could go to my library, where in fact the app is already in my phone! I couldn’t find where to enter my students’ name ,compared from the old version, it was so easy to use and very convenient.

The app is great for real time student answer and knowledge check but app keeps crashing and failed my lesson because of this. Also i agree…this shouldnt happen if im now forced to pay 8 bucks to use the service in the most effective way! I just uninstalled it in the hopes that this would reset the app but now im not so sure this is going to fix it either

I opened the app for the new school year only to find that one of my favorite features was gone: I used to be able to create a question (in app) and queue it immediately & scan student responses all from my phone. Now it looks like all questions must be sourced from your library of preprepared questions.

I loved the old app better. I see what they are trying to do with the new updates but it’s really frustrating to use. It glitches, it closes out, it’s hard to maneuver. If your going to start charging people for something at least make the new version better than the free version

The newest version continues to exit and refuse to reopen. This is frustrating during class, especially for creating when some sections can answer questions while another section loses time for me to uninstall and reinstall the app to get it to work.

Easily five stars for the old version but the updated version’s navigation/interface and data presentstion is nowhere near as insightful or easy to use. Shame – it was one of the best teaching apps out there.
