ReactionFlash – Great way to learn named reactions

[App] ReactionFlash

ReactionFlashReactionFlash : Want to refresh your memory on named chemical reactions before an exam or a group meeting?

Get all the details with ReactionFlash as a great way to learn named reactions, understand their mechanisms and view examples published in peer-reviewed literature.

Designed and developed in consultation with Professor Dr. Erick M. Carreira of ETH Zürich, the app now covers over 1’000 named chemistry reactions. Professor Carreira has helped ensure that we have all the fundamental reactions that should be part of every chemist’s toolkit: from the best-known ones to the ones only Nobel Prize winners remember!

The app is designed like a set of flash cards so it can be used as a learning tool as well as a reference. Each ‘card’ shows the reaction, its mechanism and examples from peer-reviewed, published literature. It also has a quiz mode that lets you test your knowledge.

Linking into Reaxys enables you to find the most recent examples of each reaction, many with experimental details. Reaxys delivers experimental facts from the literature, enabling researchers to find the best synthetic routes and conditions. Find out more at https://www.elsevier.com/solutions/reaxys

ReactionFlash user reviews :

This app is great for students, especially for the ones preparing for competitive exams. But few can be made, such as including the temperature range of the reaction, mentioning where the substitution or addition or elimination takes place in less or more hindered sites, will it be cis or trans, the yield percentage range, etc.

  • Hello Manoj Thank you very much for your rating and your comment. The examples (place your finger on the screen and you get a toolbar) have the reaction conditions and the link to the literature. Please send me a message at reactionflash[at]elsevier.com to allow me to explain further how Reaxys (www.reaxys.com) can help you with your request. Pieder
This app is awesome!!! Edit- I noticed some dumbass in the review section think that the automatic rotation is a bug but its not. App rotates the screen automatically to maximize the reaction real estate.

  • Hello Brahamdeep Thank you very much for your great comment and for your rating. The app is designed to be used in landscape mode, this as it allows us to use the maximum real estate on the device, the reactions being drawn mostly horizontally. Please send me a message to reactionflash[at]elsevier.com to allow me to give you more details. Best Pieder
Very handy and easy. The examples for every reaction helps to understand well and also helps to apply on various other molecules
