Star Battle (also known as “Two Not Touch”) is a challenging logic puzzle. Place two stars in every row, in every column, and in every region, but make sure that the stars do not touch! Each puzzle has only one solution, which can be reached with logic reasoning, no guessing needed!
It is an object placement puzzle, similar to trees and tents or battleship. Many users call it a nice cross between sudoku and mine sweeper. Star Battle puzzles are a great way to challenge yourself, to relax, to train your brain, or to kill some time. With puzzles ranging from easy to fiendish, it offers something for both beginners and experts.
These puzzles can be really tough, and if you are new to them, it will take some time to learn how to solve them. To help you, the app includes a “How to Play” which explains what strategies you can use to solve the puzzles. Also, if you are stuck, you can always ask for a hint, which will explain what strategy can be applied to move forward. Finally, if you do not want a hint, there is also the option to only check if your solution is correct so far.

The puzzle is relatively new, created by Hans Eendebak for the 2003 World Puzzle Championship. The puzzle is also knows as Two Not Touch, under which name it is published in the The New York Times. All puzzles in the app are created by brennerd.

This is my current favorite game. I’ve played through roughly 340 levels so far between the different difficulties. There has been a recent update that had added more puzzles for free and a button to check if you are correct so far which are two big bonuses. There are short ads after every puzzle completion but they don’t interfere with game play. It’s a great little logic game and a great way to kill a few minutes here and there. Highly recommend!
Very simple, easy to use interface for a nice little brain teaser. Very generous with their anniversary gift, too! Hints are also very useful – not only does the game tell you one or more spots to fill in, but it explains why. Very nice when you’re stumped, and it doesn’t penalize you either. I recommend this app, and it’s worth paying to remove the ads.

BEST part: the hints actually help you learn how to play the game better by telling you WHY they are hinting that move. A well thought out logic game where after a while you learn how to quickly place stars and dots in the smaller shapes which helps you complete the overall puzzle. Not intrusive of ads either. Update : latest release has hundreds more levels which looks like all the other levels you would have previously paid for.
This is hands down my favorite game right now for passing time. When I only have 5-10 minutes and want to engage my brain, this is what I go for every time. I’m really excited about the extra levels, I hope the developer keeps games like this coming.
Great game, and the interface for this version is really good, especially the tips. You can undo, and there are different colours for different regions. I ran out of Fiendish puzzles but they just added 50 more – excellent.
Super simple, very challenging at higher difficulties, and all around my very favorite game to play when I want to light up my brain or relax. I like it so much I’ve replayed most levels to improve my time!
Great game, I’ve been playing on the train to work for a couple of weeks now. It’s easy to pick up and pause whenever, and it’s in general just a well-designed game without annoying notifications.
I ran out of puzzles! Thus one is fun, and the last update added the option to check for errors. If you like Sudoku or other deceptively simple puzzle games give it a try!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this game. I love the challenge it brings and how much comes with the game for free. There are extra puzzles to buy and there are no ads. Highly recommended.
Delightful puzzle game that is very straightforward and fun. Hints provide the logic behind filling spaces, rather than just dropping a star somewhere. Excellent app.
