Wavelet user reviews :

I tried using this app with an AutoEq preset for my headphones (from crinacle, for the WH-1000XM4). When I enable it, the sound is clipped, which makes it worse that without the compensation. The AutoEq readme says “Parametric eq filters will produce positive gains and to avoid clipping a preamp with negative gain is required.”. Wavelet doesn’t seem to support adding a preamp. Please tell me if I’m doing something wrong. Edit: thanks for the answer, it did help!

  • You can either enable the limiter or use channel balance for setting the recommended pre-amp to resolve clipping issues.
update again: it must have been a fluke or maybe the app was just having a good day bc this issue is once again a MAJOR problem update: one of the developers responded and helped me, so it works great again now. turn on the limiter if you have this problem! original post: Worked great for months! Then, all of a sudden it started causing my music to go in and out constantly and distorting the sound. I’ve already checked to make sure that it’s not my earbuds (no cuts in and out with wavelet off), the music only distorts and cuts in and out when wavelet is on :(

  • Does the issue persist if you enable the limiter in Wavelet? Thank you for the update!

Just installed on my Pixel 5 using Shure 315 earbuds. I tested it with Spotify and the improvement in quality is undeniable. That being said there is one fatal flaw that, if I can’t find a fix for, may require me to uninstall. Whenever I turn the EQ on, the volume is cut significantly, then when I adjust the volume to a good listening level and something happens on the phone that bypasses the EQ (I learned the hard way that sample playing a song in Spotify does this), my eardrums get blasted.

Edit:Reviews say simple and straightforward. Not in my experience. So auto eq shows but there’s no affect on the sound. Just a bit too frustrating to persevere with. Good thing it’s free because it doesn’t work for me. App needs to be polished to the point where it’s simple to use.

  • AutoEq is available if you connect your headphones, because it is a headphone specific feature. Does that resolve the issue in your case?

Having tried so many equalizers, Wavelet seems to be the best so far, simple and straightforward to use, this is using Android 11, Galaxy S20 Ultra, it certainly makes a difference to the sound on headphones, ear buds and speakers – am undecided whether to pay for the advanced features, witll try it out for a little longer.

I’m a big music lover and have to recommend this app to any one that has headphones. It just makes them sound 100 percent better, especially is you have any sort of budget headphones

An outstanding app for improving audio quality. However, it seems to cause static distortion with certain frequencies (tested with AutoEq for Soundcore Q30 on Pixel 4a). The distortion disappears when Wavelet is disabled.

  • Thank you for your review. You might need to enable the limiter. Another option would be to lower the overall volume using channel balance by around 6.5dB

Will Edifier TWS1 Pro get its own auto-eq preset in the future? Edit: btw today i updated the app and it’s even more wonderful, before only 90-95% of my favorite songs sounded good, now i can admit that 100% of my favorite songs sound perfectly, i had problem with highs being too high in rock and heavy metal songs. Keep it going, this app is amazing and so easy to use.
