Dictionary for 51 language combinations, usable without an internet connection (offline dictionary). Vocabularies can be downloaded and updated within the app for free. All dictionaries are bidirectional, so German-English doubles as English-German. Just type in your keyword in either language.

The following languages are available in combination with German and English:

Albanian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Esperanto, Finnish, French, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Latin, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish

New translations and corrections can be suggested at contribute.dict.cc/. Every translation gets checked by several other contributing users. The downloadable vocabularies are updated daily.

Additional features can be activated within the app.

Hey Paul, great work on the app. However, it doesn’t seem to work on Android P. Im currently using the Pixel 2 XL and am on the latest Android P beta. Unfortunately, the app crashes on launch

Well, I’m not gonna lie, it’s by far the best German-English dictionary you can find. I used to prepare for my university studies in Austria and I’m using it everyday now that I live in Germany. Also the yearly subscription is not at a horror price. It’s worth it to download it and give it a try.

Generally pretty good. German and Spanish dictionaries good, Italian definitely lacking. Off-line functionality. Simple to switch languages.

It would be nice if the pronunciation feature was only activated by directly tapping that button instead of also on the translated words. It’s quite embarrassing when it plays in public, and it’s incredibly easy to accidentally tap the word while scrolling. The shame is that the app is otherwise uncomplicated and great for translations on the go.

Great app, especially for offline use! It finds a lot (almost all) of the searched for words. Constant and reliable partner when traveling, because you can download the language packages and search for/translate words offline :). If you have internet access, you can also listen to the pronunciation, which can be helpful. Thank you for always improving the app. I hope you never stop, because it’s one of my favorites

Version 7.0 works fine for me. I don’t like to download a new vocabulary database only because the developer doesn’t care to make the newer app versions compatible with the older databases. – Apart from that it is the best English – German Dictionary I know. Thanks – – The storage settings of the App stops at the main storage, and completely refuse to be led to the place where the vocabulary database of a previous version has been placed by its App. I initially installed it on a new Android 7.0.

• If you send me an error report using the “info” menu item, I get some technical information so I can look into that.

I have been using the application ever since I went to school and for me it has probably been the most helpful tool when learning English. Now that I am studying Italian and French, I am slightly disappointed by the poor selection of vocab the app offers. Especially in Italian it can be frustrating, maybe you could the option to let users add vocab themselves, like a language wiki? I would support that. Other than that, definitely a great app and certainly worth the annual 2-3 euros for +version

I really like the app, it has been a live saviour many times! One thing tho: recently I got the unwanted behaviour that because of the ads on the bottom the input field for the translation loses focus and the keyboard disappears, making me press on a random word under the keyboard that I didn’t want. That’s really annoing. I get that you need ads to fund this.

Used to be great and useful. Today all the downloaded language packages suddenly disappeared. All the settings are gone too. Couldn’t use the dictionary. Kept saying it couldn’t connect to the server. Also not able to download the language packages. Hello Paul, at first I wanted to send you the technical info but I couldn’t even get to the main menu. There was always a popup. It redirected to another page. I couldn’t report an error or seek help in the app. So I wrote here.

• Okay. There is also a developer contact e-mail listed in the Play Store entry, but I understood by now that most users see higher chances of getting an answer by writing a review. However, to solve a problem I need to request technical information people might not want to post publicly. And I only have 350 characters available for my answers here.

I subscriped for a year and would love if the developer improves the quiz game a little bit. Because so far it seems randomly generated, perhaps a better approach is to quiz the most freuqent words in the spoken language. If it were me i would generate a level for each user based on their researches, and based on that, the level of the quiz game is adjusted. Also if the owner sees this, i have a great selling idea to filling a market need. Teaser -> learning the buisness specific language

The app is perfect. There’s always a room for wishing something different, but the software is developed in a very consistent, logical and user-friendly way. Also downloads for offline use run flawless. Additional bonus is the audio support. Every aspect of the app brings joy and satisfaction. Many thanks to the developer!

I’ve been using this app since high school German classes and it’s very good at giving words with all of their contexts. One issue I’ve been having with the app is that my keyboard minimizes while I’m typing. It may also be an issue with my phone (google pixel 6) but I’ve only had that issue with this app.
