Ingress transforms the real world into the landscape for a global game of mystery, intrigue, and competition.
Our future is at stake. You must choose a side.
A mysterious energy has been unearthed by a team of scientists in Europe. The origin and purpose of this force is unknown, but some researchers believe it is influencing the way we think. We must control it or it will control us.
“The Enlightened” seek to embrace the power that this energy may bestow upon us. “The Resistance” struggle to defend, and protect what’s left of our humanity.
Install Ingress and transform your world.
The World is the Game
Move through the real world using your Android device and the Ingress app to discover and tap sources of this mysterious energy. Acquire objects to aid in your quest, deploy tech to capture territory, and ally with other players to advance the cause of the Enlightened or the Resistance.
The struggle is being played out globally. Track the progress of players around the world, plan your next steps, and communicate with others using an Intelligence map.
What is the Niantic Project?
Is this just a game? An Investigation Board (https://www.google.com/+NianticProject) filled with cryptic clues and secret codes awaits. The story evolves everyday. Powerful secrets and game tech are there to be unlocked.
The struggle to save the planet spans the entire world. Groups of people acting together can be more effective than individuals acting alone. Cooperation across neighborhoods, cities, and countries will be needed to achieve the ultimate victory.
Note: Ingress uses the “Read_Contacts” app permission to make it easier to invite your friends to join you in your mission to save the world. The app will not contact anyone without your explicit action to recruit a particular friend.

I started playing it since it was in closed beta. Like a lot of players, I played it frantically through rain, snow and winter. I left it aside for a few months just to start playing it again. I am now a casual player with periods of intense play. I don’t think there is a similar game for smartphones. It takes a lot of courage to play it and a lot of dedication. Sadly, the Ingress Prime update messed it up. Graphics are nice, but do not fit well on screen. The app does not work unless GPS is on, even when connected to Wi-Fi or when being inside.
Very much a beta. Locks up frequently. “Scanner communication error” on simple actions. Can’t handle dropping off WiFi onto 4G. Sometimes won’t start (unable to find location). Sometimes totally inaccurate location. All the while the redacted scanner still handles these same situations with no issues.
This is a great game! Would and have recommended to a lot of people. Fun for single players or groups of two to two thousand of nearly any age. A few downsides to the game: people cheating by using third party apps, multiple account holders, gps spoofing and niantic’s severe delay in processing portals.
Very fun to play, really enjoy it, giving me an excuse to explore locations I’d not thought of. Can’t wait for more locations to open up around me, so I’ll start using the camera to upload things soon!
Very fun to play. I’m surprised how many locations there are around me.
Have given it 4 stars coz its the kind of game I’ve been looking for. I’m yet to be see if it will persuade me to give it the last star or less.
