TED Talks user reviews :

Amazing talks, but the app itself could use some improvements. A search feature would be great, and maybe if I could see the suggestions/notifications that I received, and maybe dismissed by mistake. And, it would make more sense to be able to rate/add to favorites a video while watching, not before. Otherwise it’s a great app!

My honest rating would be a 4.5, but we can’t do half stars on here. Content is great, app works well. However for some reason since the most recent update, there is a small red bar that moves back and forth along the bottom navigation menu. It is very annoying and distracting. I’m not sure what it’s accomplishing, but I promise I’m aware of the menu without the constantly moving red bar above it.

Limited content and not compatible with Chromecast. I used to spend so much time on this app, finding great talks and casting them to the TV. Now there is no longer an option to cast and there is less on there than the website it seems. However it is better than the android TV app, that doesn’t even have an option to log in to access your saved videos, never mind even half of what I want to watch, that is very poor.

Great content, but an educational app with a videoplayer that doesn’t have any playback speed feature is an extremely huge bummer. I’m pretty sure they used to have one, but I’m 100% sure that the lack of this feature makes me avoid this mobile app like the plague. EDIT: Thanks for the alternative! I’ll definitely try to use the mobile website.

  • The playback speed feature is temporarily unavailable, but it will be back! In the interim, you might consider using the mobile version of TED.com.

The application design is good, but the current version of application is very laggy. Search results aren’t accurate and feels like it’s giving random results and it needs to be improved. The player is missing quality control options, videos aren’t loading for some reason on both my android devices and the source seems to be very slow. At this point watching Ted talks is better in YouTube. Hope the team fixes the issues soon.

  • Thank you for this feedback, we’ve logged it for our developers to see.

I love TED videos, indeed. I loved the option that videos could be slow down, to understand a quick speed talker. I loved the feature that I could download ONLY the audio part. When two people talk to each other, there is no reason to watch them. But all these positiv elements are GONE. What has left, is a very slow, clumsy app – which I have just deleted!

  • Thank you for your feedback. The playback speed feature is temporarily unavailable, but it will be back! In the meantime you might consider using the mobile version of TED.com.

I find this app a bit awkward to use. The scroll goes too fast doesn’t stop to allow you to properly see talk titles. I also want to share some talks with people, there is no share button to send a link or a copy button to capture the name of the talk and the speaker.

  • Thank you for reporting a problem with the TED app. Please reach out to contact[at]ted.com with as much detail as possible, to help us understand the issue more fully. Thank you!

After a quite long time waiting, finally TED back in the game. Now I’m able to use the app instead the website. The benefit of the app it’s easy to use, and when it’s easier, you use more. But still I believe the old version and its design was better. Search, category part and other features for me were more satisfying and handy. But still TED is one of my favourite and useful app I’ve ever used. Thanks a galaxy for fixing the issues. I deeply missed the app and watching video by it.

  • It sounds like you’re experiencing a known bug causing the app to load endlessly. We’re still working on understanding the problem, so we apologize for the trouble. You might consider visiting TED.com on your device’s mobile browser as a temporary alternative.
