VLC user reviews:

This is a great port to the Android platform. I use ESFile explorer to navigate to the OTG USB drive, tap the MPEG, etc.and it work’s fine! I have problems trying to play DVD ISO’s. The menu’s don’t respond to touch, but the player controls come up. It won’t play some video MP4’s. A wish list item would be to be able to scan the USB for video files in the VLC settings. I know the quirks will be worked out, they were on the PC version. Thanks VLC!

Video playback is still terrible. Disabling hardware acceleration helps some, but it’s still choppy, pauses and lags. Advanced hardware decoder is set to auto. I don’t like converting audio so I can use the stock player, but that’s what it is now. Playback is better on a g3 than a note 4. Two updates ago everything was fine. What happened? Please fix.

Last Update November 23, 2017 :

2.0.6 is an update fixing crashes, updating codecs and saving the audio delay for BT headphones.
2.0 introduces a large number of features, notably network disk browsing (Windows shares, UPnP, NFS, SFTP…), favorite folders and URLs, video playlists, popup video, new permissions support, subtitles download, rewritten notifications and control, and a new history.
The Android TV and Android versions were merged, so that every device can get the updated Android TV look.
