The app is well on the way to enshittification, especially as the latest feature is adding celebrity and brand BeReals. Just think about the absurdity of the premise: a BRAND being REAL. And that’s sad, because the premise is really cool. I like posting some ephemeral snapshots that I was prompted to take at same time as my friends. I like seeing what they were up to at the time! Any update that doesn’t serve that goal just detracts from the exprience.

I’m rating bereal 3 stars because right when i got the app, it was so fun i was excited to see the notification pop-up on my phone. But lately, bereal is lagging so bad that I can’t see the comments or even react to the bereals. I can’t see who I’m friends with or even add new ones. And now, my notification goes off after the timer ends. It says, “TIME TO BEREAL!”and when I open it, it says 10 seconds left or 3 seconds left. If there is any way to fix this, please tell me.

Bereal used to be an amazing app, that was full of excitement for family and friends. Most of the updates are good ideas- but the team doesn’t address the bugs, causing the app to lack enjoyment. I remember a couple months ago being so excited, “When is my notification going off??” I was so excited to share with others what I was posting. But my app started to not give me my notifications a while back. I though it was something wrong with my phone- but no. I have tried everything in the books.

2 out of 3 times i will not get an actual bereal notification which defeats the entire purpose. if i do, i only have around 40 seconds left to actually take the bereal. i’ve re downloaded the app twice and checked notification settings on my phone but nothing helps. it’s a shame because i really like the concept of the app but it’s incredibly frustrating. it runs smoothly otherwise and i receive all other notifications without an issue.

BeReal used to be a good app. Then they started adding extra features, most of which I enjoy. For example, the posting on time award became a favorite. Now, I have samsung routines specifically for the BeReal notification to make it easier to be on time. However, these constant updates and added features have come at a cost. That cost being a buggy app, especially for Android users. The BeReal team should sit back and take some time to address these issues before adding any more features.

The app runs pretty smooth I usually have no problems. It sometimes doesn’t work but thats usually my wifi. It loses 1 star because my realmojis won’t work. Hlwhen I leave a realmoji on someone’s bereal the picture doesn’t show. It loses another star because I’ve contacted help center multiple times and they never got back to me or even attempted to help me.

I love this app, it allows me to be able to chat and see what old friends are up to on a daily. The only reason Im not rating it a 5 out of 5 is because the chats. I wish you could have more then just 2 private chats not to mention if the chat is being blown up with texts from friends the texts don’t always automatically show up, I have to swipe out of the chat and reopen it to see any new texts that came through and that can be a bit annoying sometimes but in all this app is amazing!
