Quento is a game by Q42. It was invented by Martin Kool, coded together with Benjamin de Jager and designed by Marten de Jongh.

The name Quento is derived from the Spanish “cuenta”, meaning “sum” or “count”, and “quintet” which is Latin for “group of five” that hints at Quento’s game board having five numbers.

Quento user reviews :

Lovely concept, but needs to be improved. Some audio control would be nice, maybe a way to save games, and for such a simple game I don’t know why it lags so much on my nexus s. Touch responsiveness is poor as a result.

This is the type of game that I have looked forward to for years, since it offers a simple math puzzle in a very highly refined experience

This game is great fun but the app needs a bit of work. I know I bought it – you don’t need to remind me every time i run it. I don’t know where it’s getting it’s volume setting from but it is LOUD! It runs great on my N7 but lags so much on my Galaxy Ace it’s virtually unplayable. I can’t think why. If the dev refines it just a little bit this would easily get 5 * from me.

The game is fun and a great way to fight boredom. However, the noises are annoying and there are no in game options to lower our mute the sounds.

I love apps that make you think, “why didn’t I think of that”. It’s basic arithmetic, but still challenging (I’m not great with math). The look and user experience is clean, simple, and effective. I’ll be playing this a lot (and I don’t play much games).

The complete lack of muting is a deal killer for any app. And the fact this one has loud and obnoxious sounds makes this even more necessary.
