The Sailing Expert application, a swiss knife for sailors, supports navigation, regatta, helps sailors to keep their logbook, shows weather forecast, keep maintenance log for different boats and more.
The device’s sensors are used to fill the log (location, COG, SOG, temperature, pressure).
If a WiFi NMEA provider is available over WiFi the boat sensors will be used instead. Both TCP and UDP is supported.
This app support Wear OS watch companion app showing the instruments on your watch.

Navigation
The application will tell you the target course or alert if you are off course, calculate the remaining distance and estimated time of arrival (ETA).
Routes: while sailing you can use routes to navigate
Target: fix a concrete bearing or target point of interest (POI) you want to sail to
Passage: the application help you plan a passage using a distance-time graph method
Startline: on regattas the application helps you to cross the startline on time and with optimal speed
Charts
Map data from OpenSeaMap project or NOAA RNC are available in the application for offline use
Custom map servers can be used with this application (e.g. OpenStreet maps)
Local MBTiles files can be imported
Scanned maps can be imported, calibrated and setup up as a map source

I’ve really liked this app. But now I’ve downloaded Delaware, Maryland and Virginia and those charts don’t show up on the map. I’ve also downloaded New Jersey, New York and North and all of those do show up. Update: I had to completely uninstall and it worked correctly. I believe that the issue was that if you try to download maps in parallel rather than one at a time sometimes doesn’t register the map.
- Hi, thank you for your review! Downloading multiple maps should work, just make sure your phone is in charger and not in sleep. If the download gets interrupted the map may not work. worked great until it didn’t. I was loving this app and features like the automatic logging and adding pictures, but on the 5th day of the voyage it just froze. no more log entries. it would act like it was accepting the entry, but didn’t. I couldn’t end the voyage either. it just froze. not even closing app could I get it to work again. too bad.
I am trying to find a simple sailing log book app that has no issues. Maybe it’s time I make my own… This app has potential, but for a couple of issues. When the app first opens it makes an annoying sound.. Which can’t be turned off!!??.. Second issue is the maps are upside down and the compass is completely wrong. I am in Australia and you have me facing south when I should be facing north!.. Uninstalled, sadly, as it has potential.
