Long time users may rest assured: the current, freely available ‘normal’ model quality option is on par with
the high quality options of previous Scann3D versions. The subscription only options contain brand new improvements

Restrictions & Known Problems

Despite our pursuit of quality and ease of use, there are some technical restrictions to consider:

Hardware: The technology behind the app is computationally expensive, thus the it may have problems on older devices, or on phones equipped with ‘weaker’ hardware.
Environment:
Objects with reflective surfaces will produce inconsistent, low quality results.
Try to use objects with colors markedly distinct from the background – textured objects are best.

It is the best free app I found that supports my phone! That’s not meaning that is a very good one: the quality of the 3D design is at least owfull…

App seems to have good potential but it is not there yet. It seems like you need to keep moving in one general direction around the object as changing directions seems to create poorer models. The models have very poor resolution and surfaces tend to mesh together. It would be nice if it had a better method for scaling the model and separating surface details. Great concept. Keep improving it!

Did not get a successful scan from this app. I was trying to scan a bicycle helmet. Could not acheive anything the represented a useful scan. First scan only scanned a small portion of the helmet so I tried to do a more accurate and thorough scan and it kept failing. Maybe the problem is with me but I couldn’t get to a point of having anything acceptable.

Used this app before on a less powerful phone and it worked ok. Now on faster one running Androis 11 with 4GB RAM, nothing but”Error during calculation” and FAILED is the result. Tried using less pics from dataset, closed any other apps, no luck. Too bad, as the guiding dots are a good feature.

A really great app. Does the job, without having to upload anything to the cloud. It renders models on my 4gb RAM phone smoothly. Pro tip: Take 50-60 pictures for a better result, even while using Normal quality. And the auto guided mode is easy to use, but the manual allows for more freedom.

App has great potential! I wanted to test it out to further use it in geology and archaeology. Since these are areas with larger objects the app may work better. Once you get your model you can create point clouds and use in CloudCompare or morphological apps. | Camera interface didn’t indicate auto-focus yet I’m imaging small items such as artifacts and rock samples. Can it auto-focus on a rock with a non-homegenous background…? or is it better to set a homogenous staging for the item…?
