I don’t know what happened, but the home directory can no longer be changed and it’s a nightmare. It downloads every file to “storage/emulated/0/Android/data/lysesoft.andftp/files”. When I change it and hit apply, it reverts back to the above location.

Was 5 star. Rock solid for about 3 years (since I got this phone). This very useful app has been very stable. The latest upgrade 6.1 broke it. I can login but any transfers produce java errors. Mostly permission denies on writing on phone filesystem and null pointer assignments. Update: Version 6.3 fixed the issues. Back to 5 stars. Thanks!

Does’t work on an Android 9 TV Box (I have it on an Android 6 TV Box and an Android 11 tablet where it seems OK). No icons at the top right so I can’t do anything. I noticed storage permission wasn’t set (it never asked) so I set that explicitly but it didn’t help. Tried a couple of previous versions (from apkmirror) but same thing.

AndFTP works properly in Android 13. What I had to to though was to recreate all profiles so that they use correct ssh key. Editing profiles was not enough. After edit profile looked correct, but did lot actually use correct key. I can now upload and download to/from any directory.

  • For private key, try to rename it as .png to make it visible. Since Android 11+, permission to access all files requires approval from Google but it’s generally allowed only for specifics apps (AntiVirus). Currently, for internal storage you have full access to default folder: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/lysesoft.andftp/files and any “Exernal”

Folder syncing works well as long as there are no non english symbols in the file name. Will have to look for an alternative. Hope other languages will work in the future, otherwise very cool app.

Google has made this app not very useful unfortunately. You can only place downloaded files into a certain folder, not anywhere you want like before. This needs to be updated to allow us to give the app permission to access all folders on device. You’re better off downloading a file manager with FTP client support like CX Explorer

Brilliant ftp client. I’ve been using this app to transfer stuff across from my phone to my modded switch console with ease. Highly recommended

I have been using this app for while but there have been so recent releases to FTP Server Updates and these options has caused some connection issues that AndFTP has not either not replied in a decent amount of time to help me connect to this updated server configurations OR has not updated their app to allow the connections to work as it should. The Require Session Reuse is the issue, there are other FTP apps that is handling this just fine.

I recently upgraded my phone to a Samsung S22+ and am now having issues with files not being shown in folders. I use this app to update game server plugins regularly but the app does not show them in the download folder on my phone that they were saved to.

SFTP support is broken in version 6.0 on Android 12. Unable to read private key, message is “open failed: EACCES (Permission denied)”. Update: moved private key to Documents folder and renamed it with .png extension. Then it was visible to AndFTP again.

  • You have to setup again the path to your private key due to new Android 11+ local storage security requirements. Private key path must be visible from AndFTP (External storage, Documents, Downloads, any AndFTP local storage)

A nice light-weight app for doing exactly what I need it to do. It connects to my Synology SFTP server and mirrors the files to the SD Card. I was able to set up a one-way mirror in the free version. If sync is still limited to the pro version, that might mean two-way synchronizations. If you have file names with foreign characters be sure to change the character set in the advanced settings to UTF-8 (or whatever character set you need). Otherwise this app will silently change your filenames to fit within the specified character set. It does not warn you first. The scheduled synchronization feature will suffice. I would prefer an option to trigger synchronization when it gets plugged in for charging.
