Chessable user reviews :

It’s a great app for learning chess, but it provides very little in the way of direction or suggestions of what to do beyond the tutorial lesson. This makes it a bit inaccessible for newer chess players, as there’s no real explanation of how to get new courses, how to tell if a course is right for your skill level, how courses are meant to be taken (some come with videos, and it’s not really made clear if you should watch the hours long video first) or an idea of where to get started.

I previously rated this app 4 stars, but recently it has connectivity problems and won’t work, even when all my other apps will. Too buggy. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are not just trying to sell the premium “offline” PRO membership only feature, but who knows. Also, the app is too repetitive. That said, if they ever fix the connectivity issues, I think it’s a good way learn, and I will raise my rating back to 4*.

Happy to see that chessable is now on an app. Unfortunately, the offline mode is not working well (videos stopping when you are back online, which happens at every subway stop)

Very good if you play against opponents that will play the top moves. The app will tell you and imprint all the best replies to the best moves. However, for players at my level, I hardly get to play against the positions I’m being taught because we don’t play top moves. It will help you with theory but doesn’t seem to help a lot when your opponent takes the game out of “book” within the first few moves and then you are going alone in uncharted territory. Still, a very good app.

Doesn’t save login info, thus making regular logins a real hassle. Thank you for the response. I usually access Chessable via web browser, but when I am on the road it would be nice if it would just log me in more easily. After a certain amount of time, the app requires you to retype the email address and remember the password. There should be a feature to save both and make it easier to use Chessable when on the road.
